The 21st year of the luxurious Strings of Autumn music festival is almost here! On 20 October, Prague’s Forum Karlín will resound with the melodies of Irish music, as remarkably presented by The Gloaming. Get ready for an unforgettable deluxe experience!
The Gloaming approach Irish melodies in a meditative and atmospheric way, so don’t expect the familiar tunes from Irish pubs. Ancient Irish traditions are mingled with the alternative folk scene and there is an obvious influence of jazz in the renditions by this luxurious five-member ensemble.
Each member of The Gloaming has a rich and successful solo career, promising a high-quality and enriching musical experience that awaits you at Forum Karlín on 20 October.
Violinist Martin Hayes is from the Irish County Clare, spent most of his life in the USA and is famous for his original playing.
Dublin native Caoimhín Ó Raghallaigh plays an special instrument called the hardanger d’amore: a combination of the Norwegian folk violin and the renaissance viola d’amore.
The band also features Denis Cahill from Chicago, one of the most famous guitarists in the genre of Irish music. Singer Ó Lionárid is sure to astound with his luxurious and inimitable expression, which has made him famous around the world. He has worked with stars like Peter Gabriel and Gavin Bryars. American keyboardist, producer and final member of the group Thomas Bartlett has also collaborated with many famous artists.
There will be no lack of luxurious melodies. There is a reason why music by The Gloaming is identified as a “genre of its own”. Find out for yourself at the opening concert of the successful Strings of Autumn music festival, which is on until 9 November 2017.
