Michael Kors demonstrated a shocking reversal at NYFW. While last year’s SS collection presented airy and unusually simple items with tropical and batik patterns, this year’s collection is a show of fresh colours radiating optimism!
As well as a flood of bright colours, the SS19 collection also presents deluxe elegance, a rougher rocker style and pleasant minimalism. The designer has prepared stylish items, from swimming suits to blouses, coats, skirts or flared trousers, for you!
Flared trousers are back in the limelight and have become popular with designers and the public in recent years. And Michael Kors can be credited with spreading this trend even further. The deluxe SS19 collection is sending the message: “The wider, more extravagant and more colourful, the better!”
No high-heels, no evening dresses or tight dresses. These are exactly the criteria that Michael Kors followed last season. And you won’t find any high-heels or evening dresses in the designer’s collection this year either. Michael Kors complemented his deluxe models with stylish wedges and sent a flood of mini-dresses, timeless suits with shorts or casual models for the beach and afternoon walks about town, into the world instead of evening dresses.
Michael Kors certainly remained in the holiday mood that he set with his SS18 collection. But we enjoy the deluxe models that the designer presented at the New York Fashion Week this year just a little more.
The Michael Kors brand has never been a favourite of mine. I am actually one of the few people who do not have an item with the MK monogram in their wardrobe. Absolutely NOTHING! You may ask yourselves why....At the time MK arrived in Prague it began to be the greatest “mainstream” far and wide. So I said NO. I really don’t want something that absolutely everyone else is wearing. However, after seeing the SS19 collection I am slowly beginning to change my opinion.
In the first place I was pleasantly surprised by the absence of logos and the very infectious optimistic mood that the collection is brimming over with! I really liked the denim shirt with the cream-coloured three-quarter length trousers with fringes, complemented by the enormous over-the-shoulder handbag, which is absolutely covered with fringes. The perfect look for a summer festival with loud music, when you are feeling fine....
And I just fell in love with the model worn by Bella Hadid. White shorts, a short blazer, an open black shirt, a starfish and finally the “pirate” headscarf! Absolutely STUNNING!!!! Did you know that you could hire a deluxe motorboat or mini-yacht in Prague? Well that is exactly the sort of trip I would wear this outfit on.
