Noble task

SeaOrbiter is the only luxury vessel in the world which allows continuous long-term research missions in open seas. One could described it as a wandering house. Its capacity will be 18 to 22 crew members. Their task will be to observe and study marine ecosystems.

Creator of SeaOrbiter and concept continuing the heritage of Jules Verne.

The original idea and luxurious design of SeaOrbiter was created by world-renowned French architect, Jacques Rougerie. The concept is characteristic of innovations of new technologies and the creative idea of the designer itself. The objective of Jacques was to find an opportunity to observe live sea world. Inspiration by luxury nature is evident. A vessel with a slow pace is designed on the basis of principles of bio mimicry, using imitations of models, systems and natural elements.

Who positively influenced Jacques´ research?

It was these greats: Jules Verne, Jacques Piccard and Jacques-Yves Cousteau.

Parameters of the vessel. Eye of the SeaOrbiter is the eye of the ocean.

The total height is 58 metres, travelling 31 metres below the sea level. The eye of SeaOrbiter is 18.5 m high, located above the waterline. It is designed to serve as a guard station. The eye of the SeaOrbiter vessels, i.e. the first part of the construction, was successfully completed in the ACCO shipyard in May 2015. A public campaign was initiated in support of completion of this unique scientific workplace. The aim of the campaign has been set at EUR 325,000; all expectations were exceeded since the interest was immense.

The torso of the luxury vessel is made of aluminium alloy, five times thicker than that of conventional hulls. This semi-immersed oceanic vessel has a mass of 1,000 tonnes, of which 500 tonnes is made from material called Sealium, recycled aluminium intended for marine environment. The floating water house will also have its own laboratories situated below the sea level. Some segments will have cab pressure equal to the external water pressure to allow divers to enter directly into the underwater area.
