The sequel Res Publica III. builds on the famous pre-revolutionary performances of Realistic theatre from the years 1988 and 1989, How We did Not Experienced the 20´s and How We Experienced the 60´s.
This time it will be aimed at further perspectives of the Czech State. It deals with how we WOULD NOT wish to experience the years to come. Are you curious? Let´s hope that the performance will become a part of the theatre´s repertoire. In the Theatre Na Jezerce it is to be shown only on one day, 16. November, from 19 hours (on the eve of the Velvet Revolution), and only for specially-invited guests.
What does the play contain?
Res Publica, i.e. Public Matter at the Theatre Na Jezerce includes excerpts from plays, passages from Otto´s dictionary, but also ideas of those who influenced the republic through their words or actions. Therefore, you will be able to hear the great words of Masaryk, Čapek, Voskovec & Werich, Havel, Suchý, Holan, but also for example Ginsberg, Kerouac, Khrushchev or Kennedy. You will not be short-changed as regards words of Klaus, Zeman or Babiš.
Will it be a comedy? Perhaps a bit…
The performance will focus particularly on years with number eight in them - from 1918 up to present. With the passage of time, words and statements made in the past are sometimes taken with caution and sometimes they even put a smile on your face. However, we do not expect a comedy here, but the play certainly should not lack humour.
It was produced and directed by six creators; Karel Kříž, Vlasta Gallerová, Petr Vacek, Jan Hrušínský, Zdeněk Hruška and Jan Hebejk.
