German sports brand Puma likes exciting collaborations with famous artists. Its ambassadors include The Weeknd, Cara Delavigne, Usain Bolt and Rihanna. The last of these, talented artist Riri, is responsible for the luxurious, rebellious Fenty collection, carried in the spirit of “Back to school!”
Rihanna sought inspiration at American high schools and among student groups. The luxury collection consists of items which correspond to the unique style of bad girls, preppy girls, nerds, goths or skaters. There are also traditional Fenty elements - oversize garments, unusual colour combinations and genderless features which erase the difference between men’s and women’s fashion.
The collection was presented in the luxurious, stylish setting or the French National Library in Paris. The extravagant and often half-naked models were truly a revolution in the library! Rihanna herself admitted that it was fun to forget about the dress code: “When I went to school, I always dreamed of being able to dress however I wanted. But in Barbados, uniforms are mandatory, so it was really fund now to let my fantasy go wild and create this back to school look. It’s also a huge honour for me to present my collection to the world in such an important building.”
The collection consists of various knitted sweaters and dresses, oversized coats and furs, sports jackets, football jerseys, miniskirts based on school uniforms and baseball shirts. There are also accessories, which Rihanna uses to finish off the high school look – baseball caps, scarves, plush backpacks, chokers and sexy high sporty boots. The items are embellished with details like the number 13 (Rihanna considers it lucky) or 1988, which is the year of her birth.
