Proenza Schouler SS19: Denim and Luxury Casual Style
The SS19 couldn´t do without denim!
At the New York Fashion Week you would be hard-pressed to find another fashion brand for which denim would be such a crucial material as for Proenza Schouler. Denim models make up nearly three quarters of the collection. And the rest? Bold pieces with a subtext of luxurious casual, laid-back style!

Don´t expect any celebration of feminine curves, the brand placed its bet on all things oversize!
From the SS19 collection one can only expect minimal recognition of feminine curves, on the other hand there is a maximum dose of creativity and libertinism. In its creation of the luxury collection, Proenza Schouler bet on minimalism, the oversize style and innovative combinations. The brand combines denim with sleek jackets, shirts and pants, with metallic vests as well as luxurious fur.
Extravagance from head to toe
In addition to the laid-back, casual models, the SS19 collection consists of leather boots in the shades of white, cream and black of extravagant look. These were donned by all models who appeared on the catwalk, without making any distinction between them wearing a midi or maxi length, which almost skimmed the toes. There was not a mini to be seen in the entire SS19 collection. Proenza Schouler is one of the few brands that has at the NYFW completely relegated this item to the ´not in´ shelf.
A collection of refined details
The SS19 collection in itself features such striking pieces that no deep V-necks nor high vents are required. If the brand of Proenza Schouler decided to inject some sensuality and femininity into its luxury collection, it has sparingly used some deep necklines and refined cut-throughs in the stomach area.
Proenza Schouler SS19 does not fit neatly into the box of ´fancy at first glance´ collections, nevertheless it does contain a few pieces which aspire to become the hot trend of the next season. Denim skirts and maxi dresses? Soon to be expected to flood the shops!

Time travel back to the 80's, full of washed-out denim
Proenza Schouler SS19, or what to see if you want to fall asleep quickly and have dreams about an old video clip by Modern Talking - Cheri Cheri Lady. Yes, it is precisely the 80´s video clips, where one can see oversize denim shirts, jackets and washed-out denim. But the question is whether we still want to travel in time!
For me the real hellish outfit consisted of bleach-treated skirt up to the waist in combination with a black shirt and ultra-horrid silver vest. It is like a bad dream and to tell the truth, I have a strong dislike for these "mini" waiter-style vests ever since my school years! The only exceptions are country-style vests which are simply part of folk, tramping and all things ´country´ in general.
The only, solitary, glimpse of normality is a dotted cream-coloured dress with a bold ´X´ in the chest area. In my opinion, nothing show-stopping, just something to throw on for a little shopping or staying at home. But only if I were prepared to spend over twenty thousand Crowns on leisure wear...
