Last week, the Petřín Lookout Tower, the Mirror Maze on Petřín or the exhibition spaces of the Museum of the Capital City of Prague welcomed the first visitors. The National Gallery entices with an extended retrospective of Mikuláš Medek or a representative exhibition dedicated to Rembrandt van Rijn, where the opening hours will be extended due to huge interest. The Planetarium and Observatories will also open this weekend, and on December 16, the Holešovice DOX is set to reopen too. However, people who wish to visit a theater or see a concert will have to wait a little longer.

Theaters will remain closed until the end of the year
Unfortunately, theater performances or concerts still have to take place without spectators. In agreement with councilor Hana Třeštíková, the theaters established by Prague announced that they would remain closed at least until the end of the year, regardless of the level of the anti-epidemic system in place. Several other Prague theaters decided to take this step as well.
Theaters have great difficulties to respond to changes in government measures. Theater troupes will therefore use the time to prepare new plays, rehearse existing repertoire or put out online program for their audience.

What can you do and see right now?
Nevertheless, there are many places in Prague that you can visit right now. The Petřín Lookout Tower and the Mirror Maze associated with it, the Powder Gate, the Old Town Bridge Tower, the Lesser Town Bridge Tower, the St. Nicholas City Bell Tower and the Novomlýnská Water Tower, part of the Jewish Museum (the Old-New Synagogue and the Old Cemetery), the Kampa Museum, the Mucha Museum, the Franz Kafka Museum, the Museum of Public Transport or the Museum of Charles Bridge are all open to visitors.
The Gallery of the Capital City of Prague, the National Gallery - Kinský Palace, the Museum Complex of the National Museum (the Historic and the New Building), the Czech Museum of Music and the Náprstek Museum of Asian and African American Cultures are also open.

Where to go during the weekend or next week?
At the weekend there will be an opportunity to visit the Prague Planetarium and the Observatory in Ďáblice to watch the winter sky. Just before Christmas Day (December 21), there will be a phenomenon in the sky that people have seen almost eight hundred years ago during the Přemyslid era for the last time - the Star of Bethlehem. The phenomenon is caused by the close conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn. It will also be possible to watch it from the Štefánik Observatory, which should be put into operation for this very purpose.
The Holešovice DOX will open on Wednesday, December 16, with three new exhibitions.
It is necessary to observe anti-epidemic measures
Measures set according to the level 3 of the anti-epidemic system apply in all spaces. In most cases, these involve limiting the number of people, keeping the distance of two meters between individual visitors or other measures such as face masks, disinfection and shorter opening hours.
