Polo in Prague Chuchle: Luxury as far as the eye could see
Last Saturday saw the 5th year of the luxurious international polo tournament, the Prague Polo Cup 2017, at the racetrack in Velká Chuchle. The weather was favourable for the tournament, which was reflected in the high attendance of the general public and invited guests from the Czech cultural scene, representatives of multinational companies and polo enthusiasts. Luxury!
In the final six teams composed of players from around the world measured their strengths: Orchestr8, Noe Polo Club, Aviator Polo Club, Danube Polo Club, Prague Country & Polo Club and the winning Panamericana team with a handicap of +2. The tournament handicap was stipulated from -1 to +2.
The ladies in attendance donned luxurious hats and fascinators, while the gentlemen wore stylish afternoon suits. The matches were commented by Dean Bedford – a polo enthusiast with his whole heart and soul, who authentically and unforgettably complemented the adrenaline-filled atmosphere of equestrian “rock & roll” at the Velká Chuchle race track.
The winner of the final was the Panamericana team headed by captain Steve Rose. Alongside players Peter Papadopoulos, Secundo Mariano Darritchon and Mariano Facundo Darritchon, the team beat the Prague Country & Polo Club team in an aggressive match.
Two clubs took third place, namely the Danube Polo Club and the Aviator Polo Club, followed by the Noe Polo Club and Orchestr8. Our congratulations go out to all the teams.
Races in style
Although polo is still considered an unusual sporting event and has a brief history in our country, Prague (respectively the Czech Republic) has become a global destination where this noble royal sport is slowly but surely gaining ground and a loyal fan base. We are delighted to see this.
We believe it is a beautiful sport. It’s wonderful to watch and the presence of luxurious fashion worn by the fans is even better. Everybody always takes care to look good and stylish, which we think is superb!
