Vyhlídka Vessel

Landmark in Hudson Yards

Vessel is located in the public square of the newly built Hudson Yards, Manhattan, the largest development project in US history. The luxurious outdoor view is made up of interconnected staircases and thanks to its design it creates a spectacular honeycomb shape.

From a bus to the Olympics

Behind the remarkable building is the experienced British designer Thomas Heatherwick. For example, he was involved in the design and implementation of the New Routemaster, a London doubledecker, an office building site, hotels and a business centre in Hong Kong Pacific Place, the UK Pavilion at EXPO 2010 in Shanghai, and the Olympic cauldron at Summer Olympic Games in 2012.

Vessel in numbers

The construction of the atypical structure began in April 2017 and was opened this year on March 15th. Vessel offers a luxurious view of New York from several perspectives and a height of 46 meters.

If you decide to climb to the top, you can also enjoy the view of the Hudson River. But before that you have to climb 2500 stairs, 154 staircases and 15 floors. There is also a lift for people with disabilities.

Made in Italy

The structure was built of durable and high-quality steel, with a final project cost of $150 million to $200 million from an estimated $75 million. Individual steel parts were assembled in the Italian town of Monfalcone and then shipped to the docks on the Hudson River.

How much to prepare?

If you head to Hudson Yards in the morning from 9:30, you can get a free ticket on site. But there is a smaller catch, it is valid only on that day. You can also get a free ticket online, where several pre-selected dates are available. If you still don't know when to visit Vessel and change schedules often, you can buy a $10 Flex Pass. This allows you to enjoy it anytime you want.

Howard Hughes: The one who wanted to leave the sandwiches under the tree

Bungalow number 3 belongs to the distinctive film director Howard Hughes. He was a regular guest at the hotel, and he had one special wish - every evening he wanted the staff to leave a beef sandwich under the tree next to the bungalow. Strange? Maybe that's why he was honored to have his own bungalow!

Luxury Art Deco

Decorated in an elegant Art Deco style, it is decorated with shiny leather, aircraft models inspired by his aviation passion, a marble bathroom in a cool emerald hue, a minimalist bedroom and, like in the case of Marilyn Monroe, a living room with an open-plan dining room.

Price: $8,500/night

Other accommodations in unique bungalows No. 5,8 and 22 offer old-school glamor, Golden Age of Hollywood and iconic Palm Springs.
