Do you remember the last fashion show of Haute Couture full of authentic French ladies, berets and sensual net face veils? You can forget that image. Luxury Dior did away with sophistication in combination with playful refinement, and presents the Haute Couture Spring/Summer collection 2019, which is dominated by luxurious and extravagant robes, and sinful, daring MINI dresses!
Dior annihilated its pleiad of evening dresses, and replaced it with daring outfits, which are characterized by bold colours, applications and motifs, contrast materials, mini lengths and daring cuts in the form of high-placed openings and low cleavages. It’s certain that the good old Dior that we knew had disappeared, at least for this season.
What we have to say about the new Haute Couture collection is: ‘Stick to your trade, shoemaker.’
Even Valentino tried to destroy its stereotypes of Haute Couture almost six months ago. It exhibited an extravagant display of wild colours, slim pants, feathers, and untraditional structures at the Spring/Summer 2018 fashion show, and the result was brilliant, on the other hand Dior showed us, how not to do it...
Unflattering head coverings and overalls, an excess of lurex, rubber band waist pants, or unappealing pleating on shoulder level and knitwear are elements which we’d rather not see in the Haute Couture Spring/Summer 2019 collection. But let’s not be only critical, and let’s have a look at what was a success. There is a lot that went well as well!
Long robes from luxury glossy silk, tulle and transparent fabrics are without flaw. Outfits such as these are a feast for the eyes. If we were to mention a unique outfit from the new Haute Couture concept, then it would have to be the white, red and black striped mini dress which gets narrow around the waist. That’s an outfit, which is worthy of the Paris Fashion Week, and we say WOW!
Before we go any further, I have to say that the Spring/Summer 2019 collection really caught my interest!
The absolute highlight of the whole evening, was for me, the mini rainbow sequined dress, accompanied with a number of petticoats with ribbon sleeves in the shade of nude. It’s so cute, sexy and provocative, that it’s impossible to resist. And even though this is Haute Couture, which comes quickly out of fashion, I would keep this outfit exactly how it is, including the golden head covering in the style of a swimming cap. Where to take wear such an outfit? It’s perfect for a birthday party, or a cocktail with friends in Crystal bar. Or for a session in the future bar in Barrandov terraces. That’s worth the wait!
The conclusion wouldn’t be complete without a small negative remark. This time, my negative vote goes to the red pant costume with a golden clasp, and a huge black bow around the neck. Why? Tell me, who would want to look like a vampire director on a field trip? That is, unless you’re going to Budapest...
You’ll find the biggest hit, and flop of the collection according to Ornella at the beginning of the gallery below the article.
