He claim to be half Somali, half Ethiopian and one hundred percent French. And it was precisely his unique origin that Olivier Rousteing, creative director of the luxury brand Balmain, drew inspiration from when creating his new collection. It combines a modern concept of African clothing and traditional French elements.
He sent models dressed in sand and earth colors on the catwalk, with one of the African deserts stretching on the screen in the background. When creating the clothes, he followed the principles of lightness, comfort and airy cuts. I can't say it's something groundbreaking, but as a modern alternative to wear in a 40 °C heat in Africa? Great!
Since Olivier Rousteing spent most of his childhood with adoptive parents in Europe, French fashion way of life are, of course, much closer to his heart. Therefore the collection includes, among other items, luxury and elegant coats with wide collars, silk cardigans, sleeveless vests, jackets and coats, or denim more suitable for streetwear.
What really disappointed us during the show were the chopsticks dressed in jeans, which could hardly be called adult male legs or healthy curves. It has long been known that eating disorders are not a problem unique to women, and so Balmain could give some deeper thought to who they are sending on the catwalk the next time. At the end of the day, this looks more like a commercial for children's fashion gone wrong!
You may have noticed that I often tend to criticize men's fashion from world-renowned designers because I find it simply inhumane to turn men into women. However, the new Balmain collection took away the wind from my sails. It's great. I love sand colors, jeans and relaxed style, and Balmain checks all the boxes. Every detail, thread and accessory goes together and nothing about it offends me.
You can see that someone gave this a real thought while creating the collection. And yes, of course, homosexuals and girlfriends won't be disappointed either. Nobody gets offended here.
For example, would you have anything negative to say about this guy, if you met him in the center of Prague? I wouldn't. The color gold has always been in, and with the prices of oil going up, gold has become even more valuable. It is wise to invest in gold threads now. The sand coat with a brown trim and sharp edges is distinctive, but not garish. Complete it with plain jeans and white sneakers and this boy can instantly go on a date.
The young people of today are all about the ugly-ass look consisting of saggy sweatpants and fake giant brand logos. They think they look cool. But it's shabby chic that's cool. This model features loose black trousers, a hipster-style large loose T-shirt and an evergreen in the form of a cardigan over it. I bet this will never get old.
Black people have the advantage that everything looks great on them, so I can't decide if I like this red model or not. But I guess I do. I used to wear this type of pants fifteen years ago. It was extremely comfortable and helped me hide an extra pound or two. The combination with the red jacket and the coat is eye-catching at the very least. Not great, not terrible. But I like it.
To sum up, we could use such a fresh wind everywhere. I give this a stamp of approval. Pretty awesome - I hope to see a similar collection in women's fashion!
