A limousine is in the category of vehicles with a closed four-door body and a stepped rear. If you still think that the name is derived from the French king Limousin, let us correct your mistake. No such king ever existed. Perhaps in fairy tales, though that would be appropriate. In fact, you will feel like you’re in a fairy tale in a luxury limousine. The cars are named after a region in France that is called Limousin. In classic limousines, the area between the driver and passengers in the rear seats is separated. Although nowadays, certain types of sedans can be considered luxury limousines. Typical luxury limousines include Rolls-Royce, Bentley or Lincoln brands.

Who was the first person to ride in a limousine in the Czech Republic? After World War I, the well-known Laurin & Klement automobile manufacturer had to merge with its major competitor, the Pilsen-based Škoda. First the cars bore the names of both manufacturers, but in 1926 the first car with only the Škoda logo was manufactured. It was the luxury limousine Škoda - Hispano Suiza and it was delivered to the hands of president T.G. Masaryk in the same year. At the time, limousines were custom made and their price started at 190,000 crowns. To this day, five specimens of these luxury limousines have remained intact. You can see one at the Škoda Auto museum.
