Riegrovy sady

Riegrovy sady lie at the border of Vinohrady, are next to Žižkov and are in the vicinity of the Muzeum metro station. Their splendid position attracts not only inhabitants of neighboring districts, but people from all over Prague. And so it comes as no surprise that the area is quite busy in the summer. The popularity of the area is further increased by the fact that the park lies on a hill and offers beautiful views of the Prague Castle. What’s more, you can also enjoy luxurious sunsets from its premises.

Riegrovy sady: the right place for outdoor activities

Riegrovy sady are a great location for sports, relaxation, meeting friends, and spending time with children. The luxurious 11-hectare park was created in 1902 by merging adjacent gardens and estates. It was founded by garden director Leopold Batěk and carries the name of Czech politician and lawyer F. L. Riegr. Renowned Czech sculptor Josef Václav Myslbek later immortalized him with a statue, which was ceremonially revealed in 1913.

Riegrovy sady are also the venue of a number of cultural events. The extensive fenced outside garden has a gigantic screen used for various important sports matches. In 2017, two luxurious installations were placed here as part of the highly popular Signal Festival. And the building of a former dairy shop now contains a pleasant café with tables under trees and a soothing rooftop terrace.
