The most anticipated film of 2017 is coming to cinemas!
The two-year wait will finally be over for Star Wars fans. The galactic battle of the Skywalker family, or Star Wars: The Last Jedi is coming to cinemas in December. History will also be repeating itself in the eighth episode which follows on from the previous luxurious episode, The Force Awakens and audiences will have the unique opportunity of escaping from reality to a galaxy far, far away.
Fans of sci-fi and in particular Star Wars are literally counting down the hours until the premiere. The cult eighth episode of Star Wars is coming to Czech cinemas. Testament to the fact that this will be the most successful film of the year is also the fact that it is already being spoken about as one of the highest-grossing films in the TOP 5.
New versus old
Star Wars was for the first time not directed by J. J. Abrams, but Rian Johnson, known as the man behind films such as The Brothers Bloom or Looper.
The luxury young heroine Rey (Daisy Ridley) appears in the story, her teacher of supernatural powers being Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill).
We will also be seeing Princess Leia played by Carrie Fisher. Carrie won’t unfortunately be at the premiere as she died exactly a year ago.
You will again meet the antagonist Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) in The Last Jedi, the imperial officer Finn (John Boyega) and the pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac).
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be the longest film in the whole series as it lasts 150 minutes, beating episode two from 2002 Attack of the Clones. That had a runtime of 142 minutes.
Will Star Wars episode eight intensify relations between the heroine Daisy and the antagonist Kylo Ren? You can already find out on 14 December when the film comes to Czech cinemas. A luxurious experience is guaranteed!
“After Star Wars was released, it started to become clear that my story — it was in fact a story told by many films — was only one of a thousand which could be told about the beings that live in the Galaxy. But they were no longer the stories which I was meant to tell. Instead of that, it was the turn of other writers to unleash their imagination, writers inspired by the shape of the Galaxy represented by Star Wars. Nowadays it is a great, maybe even unexpected, legacy of the world of Star Wars that so many gifted writers are contributing towards the series with new stories,” said George Lucas, creator of the sci-fi world known as Star Wars.

Star Wars: Episode IX is planned in 2019. The name is still a secret and thus also information as to whether the late Carrie Fisher will also be appearing in this episode as Princess Leia.
How it all began
The first episode was filmed by George Lucas in 1977. But it took quite a long time until the director was actually able to say the words “Take one”.
In 1971, George Lucas agreed with Universal Studios on production of two films: American Graffiti and Star Wars. The second film was however rejected as it was felt that it was incomplete. So, after filming Graffiti, Lucas wrote a short luxurious diary telling the story of the training of a certain apprentice C. J. Thorpe by Mace Windy from the space commandos “Jedi-Bendu”. However, this concept was too complicated and was again rejected.
So, he drew up another thirteen-page outline which first bore the name “The Star Wars”. By the end of 1974, Lucas had expanded his work and finished the first version of the screenplay, where he defined terms such as Sith, Death Star and the main character named “Annikin Starkiller”. In the reworked and simplified second version, he introduced the young farmer “Luke Starkiller”, son of the great Jedi warrior Annikin, and the Force. In the third reworking, he replaced Annikin with Ben Kenobi and in 1976, he prepared a fourth, largely definitive, version of the screenplay with the working title “Adventures of Luke Starkiller, as taken from the Journal of the Whills, Saga I: The Star Wars”.
During production of the luxury film, he modified Luke’s name to Skywalker and the name of the film to The Star Wars. At the end of filming, he changed the name to its final form - Star Wars.
