Artist Rony Plesl was contacted by the owner of Rückl and came up with an unconventional project: polished and ground crystal in new shades of colors. He turned the old into something modern and luxurious and created a whole new story using classical grinding techniques. The luxurious glass products made quite an impression on the visitors of Designblok, and you can have a look too in the gallery below. This is only a small sample of what the company had to offer at the design show in Holešovice, and only represents a tenth of the beautiful products it offers to its potential clients.
The family-owned glass factory based near Beroun is built on the values of stability and tradition. It boast a long history dating back to 1903, when Antoník Rückl started blowing glass and give it unique shapes. He worked with the fragile material with the gentle hand of skilled grinder. Soon the glass factory was included in the Crystal Bohemia group.
After years of unfavorable political circumstances, the company was privatized by the great-grandson Antonín Rückl in 1992, who founded a joint-stock company. This marked the beginning of the modern history of this company.
The world-renowned artistic products of Rückl include glass for Pope John Paul II or the English Queen Elisabeth II. In addition to various other products, they also created the Czech Lion statues and the luxurious Crystal Eye award for the prestigious Czech Press Photo competition.
