Premiere: 3 August
Synopsis: This is a movie by Václav Kadrnka with Karel Roden in the lead role. The movie is about a knight whose son was lost, and he decided to go search for him. This is a movie packed with beautiful scenery, history and excellent music. Roden sports a nice beard in the movie, so we recommend this especially to those who like hairy men. The movie, which was also shown at the Karlovy Vary IFF, has received a lot of mixed feedback – some really liked it, while others not so much. So, which camp will you join?

Synopsis: This movie by Nikolaj Arcel is about Roland, the last gunslinger in a dark lost world in a distant future. This is a sci-fi/fantasy movie, and one needs to say that the trailer was very enticing. You can look forward to a star cast – the lead roles are played by Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey, who this time plays the main villain.

Synopsis: This is a movie by David Leitch. An MI6 secret agent is sent to Berlin during the cold war to investigate the murder of another agent. You won’t find a lack of action in this movie. Furthermore, the cast includes Charlize Theron, who not only fights in action scenes but also has hot sex with another woman!

Synopsis: A movie by Peter Bebjak where Adam Krajňák is the father of a family but also the head of a criminal gang which smuggles cigarettes across the Slovak-Ukraine border. But when one of the deliveries ends in catastrophe, a series of events is launched… the movie’s cast includes a range of famous Slovak actors such as Emílie Vašáryová, Andy Hryc and Zuzana Fialová. This Slovak thriller promises more than just a good watch. We’re looking forward to it!

Synopsis: Director David F. Sandberg brings us a sequel to Annabelle, the successful luxurious horror movie from 2017. This time, the plot is about a doll manufacturer and his wife. A few years after the death of their daughter, they decide to accept a sister from a cloister and a few girls from a closed orphanage into their house. Soon after, they are targeted by Annabelle... The movie doesn’t lack a playing gramophone disc, jump-scares, a lot of children and an abandoned house. In fact, it has all the ingredients you could expect from a horror movie. Want to be afraid? Then go see Annabelle 2!

Synopsis: You probably already guessed that this animated movie will be about emoji. In particular, the emoji in a computer will be fighting against being deleted. What do they need to do to succeed? You’ll find out in this 3D movie, which promises luxurious entertainment, a lot of emojis, gifs and famous videos. The movie was directed by Anthony Leondis.
Premiere: 10 August
Synopsis: A comedy by Jonathan Levine featuring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn. In the movie, this duo is kidnapped and they’ll do their best to escape. Schumer and Hawn are both excellent actors, so if you want to relax and also have a bit of fun, this movie is a great choice.

Synopsis: This is another movie by Jana Svěráka. Eight-year-old Eda is a long desired, very carefully sheltered child, since his parents have already lost one child. We already know Eda Souček, his mom and dad – that’s because the story takes place before the Czech classic “Obecná škola”, one of the most popular Czech movies ever. We think that a collaboration of two Svěráks can never go wrong, and based on the trailer we think that the movie will deliver.

Synopsis: A movie by Patrick Hughes. And the plot? The best bodyguard in the world gets a surprising client – a hitman who decided to appear in court. And he needs to get there alive… One of the most enticing things about this movie is its cast – featuring both Ryan Gosling and Samuel L. Jackson. On its own, that already promises high-quality entertainment, don’t you think? Moreover, the movie is a mix between a comedy and an action movie, so it seems that it offers something for both genders. In fact, this movie is our hot tip for couples.
Premiere: 24 August
Synopsis: This is a criminal thriller by Douga Limana about former army pilot and drug smuggler Barry Seal, who was contacted by the DEA in the eighties in order to stop the Columbian Drug Cartel Medellín. The lead role is played by Tom Cruise, so if you want to see Tom in an action movie, this is the right choice for you.
Premiere: 24 August
Synopsis: Surly and his friends need to stop the mayor of Oakton City, who wants to turn their home into an amusement park… An animated movie directed by Cal Brunker which promises luxurious entertainment. After the Emoji Movie this is another animated movie that will premiere in August. If you have children, go and watch this movie with them; they will surely have a lot of fun and the trailer suggests that adults (meaning you) will also like it.

Synopsis: A classic that won’t disappoint. Spejbl and Hurvínek. They’ve entertained Czech households for decades, and now they’ll feature in a new movie that premieres in August. It’s nice that the classical puppets aren’t left behind as times change, don’t\ you think? And the plot? Mr. Spejbl is a security guard at the Puppet Museum, where he discovers a luxurious hidden world. And of course he’ll do his best to save the museum… the movie was created under the auspices of main director and producer Martin Kotík and is the result of the work of a team of top-notch screenwriters, artists and animators from various European countries. Jesper Møller, known among others for directing Asterix and the Vikings, authored the story and is also a part of the production team.
