Gaza recorded the highest number of journalist deaths

The Committee to Protect Journalists recorded the highest number of killed journalists last year. Alexander Vinnik's release, which came about yesterday at Donald Trump's instigation, came after American teacher Marc Fogel was released from Russia.

The number of killed journalists has increased to a record number

Last year, at least 124 journalists were killed worldwide. The Committee to Protect Journalists stated this in its latest report, according to which this is the most tragic balance since it began recording more than three decades ago. The previous highest number of killed journalists was recorded in 2007, during the Iraq war, when it recorded the death of 113 reporters.

An unprecedented number of journalists according to the committee were killed in Israel's war against the terrorist movement Hamas in retaliation for its October 2023 attack on Israel. In this conflict, according to CPJ, 85 journalists died last year and 78 the previous year, said the server Ceskenoviny.cz.

United States frees jailed Russian cybercriminal

Russian hacker Alexander Vinnik was released from prison in the United States after Moscow released American teacher Marc Fogel. All this comes at a time when US President Donald Trump is trying to build bridges with Russia and end the war in Ukraine.

Vinnik was arrested in Greece in 2017 on charges of money laundering and was extradited to the USA in 2022. Last May, he admitted that his criminal activity had earned him up to 4 billion dollars, Al Jazeera reported.

The court punished men who blackmailed Michael Schumacher's family

The District Court in Wuppertal found three men guilty of blackmailing the family of former Formula 1 racer Michael Schumacher. They demanded 15 million euros, equivalent to about 376 million crowns, from the F1 pilot's family, who was seriously injured in a skiing accident in 2013, under the threat of publishing private footage.

A former security worker stole digitized family photos, videos, and Schumacher's medical records from the family. He then offered the data to another man who, together with his son, blackmailed the family, informed the portal Ceskenoviny.cz.

Fourth movie with Bridget Jones premieres

24 years since actress Renée Zellweger first appeared in the film adaptation of Helen Fielding's literary bestseller Bridget Jones's Diary, she returns to the big screen for the fourth time as the adorable clumsy character who is looking for love. In Bridget Jones: Mad About Love, however, she no longer plays a carefree young woman, but a fifty-year-old widow with two children. The new film, which premieres today in British and American cinemas, follows recent screenings of films focusing on women in their 50s. Whether it's the provocative horror comedy The Substance, starring Demi Moore, or the erotic thriller with Nicole Kidman, reported CNN. The film will be released in Czech cinemas a week later.
