I am a boy from Šumava. Karel Gott was far more exceptional than I am, notes Marek Ztracený.
"What happened is simply crazy and it commits me to my fans, I want to pay them back next year with interest," Marek Ztracený commented on his win in the Czech Nightingale poll. According to his words, he is just a boy from Šumava who composes songs and has a relationship with fans based on humanity. Next year, he is returning to the stage after a two-year break and promises to do everything to entertain the fans and to make them want to return.
Golden Nightingale, how do you feel, did you expect this?
No. It's terrible to say I didn't expect it because it was what Karel Gott used to say and I was looking for a synonym to express it and it's incredibly difficult. Anyway, this year I mainly went to take my wife out on a date, to make her happy, and I assumed I'd be applauding others, but what happened is just crazy.
And it obliges me to return the favor to my fans next year with interest.
You had a two-year break, how many songs did you create and who inspired you?
I think twelve and I have already released two of them into the world. It might also be the reason that less means more. Anyway, I have a lot of songs. That's what I expected from the break, to devote myself to my son, who is at a wonderful age, and that I would finally, instead of driving a car, from one side of the republic to the other, sit at the piano and do what I started to do.
And I have everything prepared for you here and will gradually reveal further news.
You're making a big comeback and an immediate tour, where there was record interest in pre-sale tickets. What do you say to that? Are you surprised?
After Eden, some language experts claimed that it was kind of a coincidence all along and I slightly admitted that. And when what happened with the announcement of the tour, where even more tickets are sold, I realized how lucky I am with the fans.
And I'm planning to do everything there just so they'll want to come back and I hope they'll have a great time with me. It's going to be really big and it's crazy what's happening around me.
Do you take it as a commitment to your fans?
Of course I do. But it's not a contract. My relationship is based on humanity and positivity with fans, I think and I believe they don't expect me to be flying in the air. They want to have fun and forget about worries. When they buy a ticket, what I guarantee is that for two hours they will forget about worries and have a good time and I pledge that with blood.
Have you been to America with your son, do you have unforgettable memories?
Absolutely. Imagine a dad going to America with his twelve-year-old son all alone, just the two of us, relying on each other and traveling thousands and thousands of kilometers and exploring places that you've only seen in movies, it's exciting.
I have a lot of beautiful memories and sometimes I would like to repeat it.
I think that is something I will be imagining when I retire, I will think about it every other day.
Do you feel like you're the new Karel Gott?
Not at all. Not even a hint, not even half a percent. Karel Gott was someone far more exceptional than I am. I'm a boy from Šumava and I am what I am and I'm glad that's how fans see me. I don't pretend to be any star, and I'm not saying that Karel was pretending, but he was a real star.
I'm a boy who writes songs and plays them for people and nothing more do I plan to think about myself.
