Fashion show in Shanghai

Usually, Louis Vuitton chooses the captivating Paris as the backdrop for his shows, but it's different this year. The French fashion giant presented the new SS 2021 collection in Shanghai. There would be nothing odd about that, if the whole thing hadn't taken place without the participation of the creative director Virgil Abloh, who currently resides in America, as well as the entire Paris headquarters of LV. Due to the current complicated situation, only the models themselves had a chance to travel to the other side of the globe... Louis Vuitton had already drawn attention to this fact with his unique campaign a month ago.

Misstep or intention?

Evidently, the coronavirus is still wrecking the fashion industry, and the designers are trying to find a way to make the best of the current situation. The Paris Fashion House managed to do so gracefully, although there is one big BUT. Louis Vuitton was probably trying too hard to please his new audience and went a little bit overboard... or not? He sent men dressed in bright colors on the catwalk, sporting crazy sun glasses, often with mismatched frames, with stuffed animals attached to their clothes. A hidden message? You can bet there's one!

George Floyd's legacy

Louis Vuitton presents the new collection through the eyes of a child who hasn't yet been corrupted by society and can be referred to as a blank canvas. Virgil Abloh, like many famous personalities, was deeply touched by the death of George Floyd. He himself has roots in Ghana, Africa, so it's hardly surprising that he decided to respond to this incident.

"I have children who must live in our collective awakening. Of course I don't want them to experience what we had to live with,"

said Virgil Abloh, adding that certain things in the world simply had to change.

Luxurious cuts and the color of the year

Did that make you look at the parade of stuffed animals with slightly different eyes? Yes, fashion can work miracles, especially when it has a story to tell... So let's throw away all prejudices and properly appreciate what Louis Vuitton did well this time. First of all, the cuts and luxurious workmanship! If you were to attend a meeting in of of these suits, it would be a piece of cake for you.

Blue is the color of 2020 and Virgil Abloh keeps that in mind. We dig this shade! And so we can only hope that it won't disappear from the limelight any time soon!
