Even though, or maybe specifically because the funeral of the late former Secretary-General Milouš Jakeš was private, his death sparked extensive discussion at least on social media. In the anonymous virtual space, an outright war broke out. While communism sympathizers cry for their guru, those who oppose him are popping bottles of champagne to celebrate and don't hesitate to use harsh language. It seems that comrade Jakeš's departure has divided the Czech Republic into two camps.
Even if it could seem that Milouš Jakeš died as a witness to a defeated regime, reality is different. His dream about a slew of young communist cadres that would keep spreading his ideology seems to have come true.
"Milouš, thank you! Hopefully you now sit in a better world without hunger, poverty and differences, and you're eating your favorite plum dumplings. History hasn't had the last word yet and one day you will be celebrated,"
representatives of KSČM Vyškov (Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia) published on their Facebook profile, most likely forgetting the crimes and murders committed by Jakeš himself. Words of thanks came from the mouths of voters too.
"Thank you for what you've done for us. Life was better,"
they commented under the status.
"A person of pure character, a strict, pure and solid communist has died. May his memory live forever,"
others echoed.
These statements were met with strong disagreement from those opposing the communist government, who definitely do not want totalitarianism to return, and make it known in the following comments.
"Throw the ashes in the trash, please..."
"This communist piece of shit should have been hanged,"

"Milouš, never, ever come back! And you, bootlickers of commie despotism, murders and crimes, you make me sick,"
sound comments one after another until the admin's patience most likely ran out, and the insults thrown at the deceased Jakeš were deleted. Or did the moderators of KSČM's Facebook page realize that celebrating a regime that is way in the past for many people could be damaging to the current communist party? And what's your opinion?
