Imagine Italy – a well-built tanned stunner with deep eyes is riding the legendary Italian scooter through historic streets, and a pretty girl in a spotted dress is gazing at him – such a typical image for that country. And the Italian scooter manufacturer Piaggio definitely plans to continue its production of the luxurious Vespas in the future.

Great plans are becoming reality

But what might end up being history is the smoke and typical loud noise of the scooter, since the new electric Vespa will be driven with silent electromotors – friendly both to the environment and those living in cities. The plan to create an electric version of this 54-year old machine was unveiled in 2016 at the EICCMA motorcycle show in Milano. And its official release took place at the end of 2017.

When a legend gets a fresh look

Charging the luxurious electric Vespa takes less than 4 hours and can drive about 400 kilometers per full charge. You can easily recharge it with a cable that goes to any standard power socket – or at any of the public charging stations that are becoming increasingly common now. Vespa Elettrica will also be available in version X, supplemented with a gas-powered generator which can double the driving time.

Vespa retains its original luxurious design. Below the seat you’ll find a large storage space for the helmet. There’s also an USB slot and LED lights. The system can be controlled by voice commands. In the first wave, there will only be a single color variant, specifically the luxurious silver.

Vespa is with us

Vespa comes from Italy and was unveiled in Rome, 1964. Over time, several iconic models were created, such as the Vespa Siluro, Vespa 125 U and the famous Vespa with a sidecar. In 2015 there was even a unique collection featuring a signature of the famous Armani fashion house.
