The film from which its die-hard fans expect a lot is sometimes confused and absurd. Yet The Predator is no remake, though that was the original idea.
When Shane Black came in, he turned a remake into a sequel. Here he used the elements of film myth. Even though the film was directed and partly written by the author of Lethal Weapon and The Last Boy Scout, or the director of The Nice Guys or Iron Man 3, it was expected that the newest Predator would be cool. Unfortunately, the opposite is true. The very casting of the main characters is a great disappointment. Bland names, and often unknown, will not bring the film far what is expected. The main support of the "No. 1" will be missed, Arnold Schwarzenegger turned down the role of Major Dutch Schaefer, who led the American soldiers released from captivity through the jungle against an even more terrifying enemy.
The Predator's head and body weigh almost 30 kg!
The interesting thing is that the original mask of the Predator was created by the master of special effects Stan Winston, who also worked on Alien or Terminator. They put it on the head of actor Kevin Peter Hall, who replaced cosmic chaser Jan-Claude Van Damme thanks to his towering 220 centimeters. In The Predator, we witness the debut of parkour lover Brian Prince. Unlike his predecessor, he is only 207 centimeters tall. The entire head of the Predator weighed five kilograms and the body another more than twenty-two kilograms.
