Marble has been a highly-valued material since the Middle Ages. It is a superb material to work with and highly durable. This is maybe the reason the sculptor Nevine Mahmoud chose it as her main material for creating artistic sculptures. Or is it due to the beauty of this material?

Artistic sculptures can be made from various different materials. One such uncompromising and hard material is stone. In order for you to start working stone, you need to be very dextrous, patient and you basically have to adore what you do.

Michelangelo versus the modern style of the 21st century

When you say “stone sculpture”, most people imagine a human torso by the masterful Michelangelo. We however want to show you modern stone sculptures which are not lacking in humour and exaggeration and which would most certainly make a unique accessory for any modern interior.

Nevine Mahmoud: an artist who creates sensuous sculptures

Introducing to you the unique works of the sculptor Nevine Mahmoud. Nevine was born in London, but lives and works in Los Angeles. And what does she create from stone? Not human torsos or abstract works, which you could imagine as being almost anything. Her luxury sculptures have a clearly defined form and one common characteristic: sensuality.

The sculptures created by Nevine Mahmoud take the form of sensuous lips, huge peaches which look good enough to eat, flowers or for example the human tongue without the rest of the face. Yes, these really are sensuous works which are certainly packed with emotion. As her material, the artist uses the previously mentioned marble, alabaster and calcite.

Art in a respectable style

Pleasant colours and clear lines come across as light and delicate. When imagining the chosen topics, it may seem that these are slightly vulgar sculptures, but the opposite is true. This is respectable art which does not lack a feeling for aesthetics and subtlety. Could you imagine art like this being used to decorate the interior of your home or office?
