The exhibition called Tutankhamun RealExperience allows visitors to get to know not only the life of Pharaoh Tutankhamen but also the time of ancient Egypt. The exhibition at the National Museum combines the latest multimedia technologies and presents original artefacts that are not normally accessible to the public. It will be on display until January 31, 2020.
You will get an unusual experience immediately when you enter the exposition. Thanks to the voice guide, which is in several languages, you will find yourself in an audio-visual room that will introduce you to the life story of one of Egypt's most famous Pharaohs, Tutankhamun. He then accompanies you the whole time.

Together with Tutankhamun, visitors embark on an afterlife journey where various dangers lurk while travelling through rivers and deserts. You will get to know not only the Egyptian religion, but also the funeral conventions and rituals that were supposed to guide the ruler to the better world.

Thanks to the participation of world famous Egyptologists, the best selection of original items that accompanied the Egyptians on their afterlife journey awaits you. With individual images you will be able to see the typical features of ancient Egyptian civilization from Thebes to the Valley of the Kings. Thanks to comprehensive media technologies, visitors can engage their senses and explore the tombs of the monarchs.

“I am very glad that this exhibition can happen in the Czech Republic and specifically in the National Museum, which has undergone a major reconstruction. As an Egyptologist, I dare say that this is a truly unique achievement,”
said Miroslav Bárta, director of the Czech Institute of Egyptology. The whole exhibition concludes with a section devoted to the Czech Egyptologist, Professor Jaroslav Černý, who died in the 1970s. Here you can see unique collection items and archival records, both from his private and scientific life.
The life and death of the young prince still fascinates people
Tutankhamun has ruled in Upper and Lower Egypt for approximately nine years. His name was to remind the subjects that he was a descendant of the then supreme god Aton. Since he was on the throne at the age of nine, he was not ruling alone in the 18th Dynasty, and for years his relative and successor Aye was his guardian and executor of power. The young prince probably died of malaria at the age of 18. He was buried in the Valley of the Kings - his tomb was discovered after nearly 3300 years in 1922 by British archaeologist Howard Carter.
