House No. 2 at 17. listopadu Street in Prague 1 is still under reconstruction. This is where the main building of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague is located. The reconstruction will probably take until November 2017, which is when the reopening ceremony is planned. Then two temporary exhibitions should be opening together with one part of the permanent exhibition.

During the reconstruction period, however, the Museum will be offering exhibitions in other buildings. One of these will be an exhibition of Czech Cubism that will be presented in the House of the Black Madonna at Ovocný trh and it will remain there until the end of 2017.

The exhibitions during the reconstruction period

On the 12th October an exhibition opened in the House of the Black Madonna that is entitled “Lessons in Caricature – Cubism” and it will run till the 12th February 2017. Under the auspices of the Museum of Decorative Arts an exhibition of photographs of the architecture of Zdeněk Voženílek has also been installed in the Josef Sudek Gallery. It represents a unique cross-section of the suburban growth of Prague. The exhibition will run till the 15th January 2017.

The Museum of Decorative Arts Building

This represents an architectural monument that is undergoing a gradual renovation. It is a two-storey Renaissance style house dating back to the years 1897-1899 that was designed by the Architect Josef Schulz. It has an ornate façade and a segmented roof. The vestibule of the building is enriched with stucco and the library, that is also located there (but is currently inaccessible, however), is equipped with baroque bookcases that were brought from the Monastery Library in Benešov. It is considered as representing one of the most beautiful reading rooms in Prague.

On the stairs you will find painted windows, while on the first floor, in the Votive Hall, both the walls and the ceiling are also painted. All of this will reopen again next year and once again we will be able to enjoy the beautiful and unique decoration of the Museum of Decorative Arts building.

This vehicle will catch you eye with its massive radiator. The company places emphasis on the smallest details, which are manufactured with the highest degree of precision. The golden design of the window mouldings and the wheel discs or the seat made of crocodile leather prove that this really is high luxury. Every item is handmade while the colour design is individually adapted to the specific demands and wishes of the client. The engine is a high performance twelve-cylinder model with a power of 900 hp. From zero it can achieve 96 km per hour in 3.7 seconds and the car can travel at a speed of up to 350 km per hour.

Scaldarsi Motors’ plans for the future

Scaldarsi Motors is planning to produce an additional 5 new models. They should be based on the Mercedes S Coupe, the Bentley Bentayga, the G-Class Mercedes and the Bugatti Chiron.
