The MTV Music Awards have been handed out. Who won the most?
The MTV Music Awards are among the most prestigious, with musicians vying for them all year. This year, the luxury statues went to rapper Kendrick Lamar and singer Pink, to name a few.
The luxurious main prize from music television channel MTV for video of the year went to American rapper Kendrick Lamar. He received it at Sunday’s awards ceremony for his luxury video to the track Humble. You can watch it at the bottom of this article.
The thirty-year-old rapper from Compton, south of Los Angeles, confirmed his role as a favourite. He came to the ceremony with eight nominations, transforming six of them into statues, among other for best hip-hop video and best direction. A luxurious success!
Singer Pink, who you may have seen this year at the Sziget music festival, held in the capital city of Hungary in early August, took home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard for her fifteen-year career in music.
No lack of political statements
A novelty in this year’s contest was that the organisers eliminated the male and female categories, while adding a new category called Best Protect Against the System. And the winner was a very interesting choice. MTV divided the award evenly among all six nominees – among them rapper K'Naan and singer John Legend – for pointing out the situation of immigrants in the United States in their videos.
The ceremony was hosted by singer Katy Perry. During the evening, she and many other stars berated American president Donald Trump. Many celebrities refuse to hide the fact that they are not thrilled about Trump’s election to the head of the USA. Many protested against him even during the elections, and claimed that they would leave the States if he became president. But as we’ve seen, there has been no mass emigration of American celebrities… So they at least keep talking the talk at events like the MTV Music Awards…
