Crystal piano - Heintzman Piano Company

The most expensive musical instruments in the world are as expensive as the rarest paintings. The piano - some consider it to be a musical instrument that has its own soul, while others perceive it being like a solitaire, a luxuriously designed item of their property. Clearly the piano is not just a piece of wood. Do you agree with that too?

There are a number of renowned brands, including individual specimens that have experienced a luxurious history. Amongst these are the world-famous piano makers Steinway & Sons, Broadwood in London, Bösendorfer in Vienna, and also the representative Czech Petrof.

What you might never dream of...

The most expensive piano in the world is the luxurious Heintzman Crystal Grand Piano. It has a length of 2.74 metres and it was produced by the Canadian Heintzman Piano Company. Unfortunately to our great disappointment, there is only one specimen.

The company specially designed and produced it in Beijing for public performances enjoying a wide audience. This unique piano was actually used for the first time during the Opening Ceremony at the Beijing Olympic Games in 2008.

This futuristic piece of gorgeous artwork not only bears the beautiful name “Crystal For No Reason”, but it also has a commercial value of almost 80 million Czech crowns.

A luxurious piano that surpassed expectations

Another work of art is the Sound of Harmony Piano produced by Steinway & Sons. It was adapted, designed and constructed for a Chinese art collector named Guo Qingxiang. It is a very elaborately ornamented piano that is decorated with visions of Baroque monumentality. It is said that 40 layers of wood were used for its construction, thereby endowing it with incredible acoustic quality. The piano was not assembled rapidly. It took 3 years for it to be designed and built, and eventually Steinway sealed his name on it with crystal-gold decorations. This piano has a value of $ 1.63 million.

Borders are still moving their way forward

The personality of C. Bechstein presents a shining example of one of the most historically significant and modern piano makers in Germany. His piano is called The Golden Grand Piano. The “CB B 212” model is a masterpiece of acoustic workmanship and craftsmanship. It bears a rich golden decoration with fragile beautiful wooden carvings. This jewel is abundantly adorned with elegant miniature paintings in the Watteau style.
