Prime Minister Andrej Babiš (ANO) is in favor of canceling didactic tests at high school graduation exams, because studying at the institutions has been strongly affected by the coronavirus epidemic this year. Due to the pandemic, the pupils have been confined to distance education for the better part of the current school year.
"There should be no didactic tests, but a full graduation exam, five subjects,"
stated Babiš, adding that he had discussed the matter with the Minister of Education Robert Plaga (for ANO). According to the Prime Minister, the cancellation of didactic tests should definitely apply at least to medical schools whose students have been helping to combat the epidemic in hospitals.
According to the Czech Secondary School Union, which represents about 30,000 students, this year's graduation exams should either be easier, or some parts of the exam should be canceled due to the ongoing distance learning.

Saturday's event "The DOG Is Dead" recorded more than thirty open restaurants throughout the Czech Republic. The violations of anti-epidemic regulations will now be handled by administrative authorities. In cooperation with the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, police also inspected mountain hotels or boarding houses.
"Yesterday (Saturday) the police, in cooperation with the Czech Trade Inspection Authority, inspected dozens of accommodation facilities in mountain areas, and while there was no indication of any problems with the providers of these services, the opposite could be said for restautiers,"
stated the police. Restaurtiers opened their establishments in protest of government regulations. Supporters of the initiative The DOG is dead were distributing petition sheets to sign in their establishments. Restaurants are to become political cells, and as such can stay open because, according to the initiative, political negotiations are exempt from the anti-epidemic regulations introduced by the government. The Minister of the Interior Jan Hamáček (CSSD) rejected such an interpretation of the rules.
Although restaurants can sell food and drinks through dispensing windows, according to the research company Nielsen, the gastronomic industry in the Czech Republic loses 414 million crowns in sales each day in lockdown.

President Joe Biden is set to lift the ban of transsexuals joining the U.S. military imposed by his predecessor, Donald Trump. This plan represents the Biden administration's latest effort to undo many of the steps Trump has taken.
Trump had announced a ban on transsexuals in the military in July 2017, reversing a major decision by his predecessor, Barack Obama, to allow transsexuals to openly serve and receive medical care for gender reassignment. According to the US Department of Defense, there are about 1.3 million active employees in the military, and official figures on the number of trans members are not available. Biden's plan to lift the ban is backed by newly confirmed Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
"If you're fit and you're qualified to serve and you can maintain the standards, you should be allowed to serve,"
Austin said at his hearing.
