After a plethora of oversized models and all sorts of extravaganzas that have been introduced at world fashion weeks so far, the restrained, and most importantly wearable Louis Vuitton luxury collection is a feast for the eyes. Why? Because not only will you be able to conduct business meetings in these pieces, you'll also want to take them for a spin when going on a date or for a walk in the town. By which we don't mean wild batik models in the Milka cow style. That was just Virgil Abloh on a wild trip!
The atmosphere of the fashion show was literally celestial. Creative director Virgil Abloh prepared a surrealistic vision of Heaven on Earth for his guests and the premises of the French garden of Jardin des Tuileries, where the show took place, were decorated not only with copious amounts of clouds, but also with traditional work tools of Louis Vuitton staff. In that way, Virgil Abloh wanted to pay tribute to his employees.
A huge step forward. That's how we could sum up the Fall 2020 luxury collection, which, unlike last year's collection, is dominated by becoming narrow cuts, perfectly fitting suits, coats, shirts and elegance.
The collection also includes fur coats, which are a hot trend this season, as can be seen in the collections of fashion houses such as Dolce & Gabbana or Dior.
It wouldn't be Virgil Abloh as we know him, if he failed to include an element of eccentricity in his collection. This time it is the color fuchsia, which the designer introduced into the collection in the form of gloves, hats, sweaters, bags or a pink suit.
Even in such a dazzling collection as the Fall 2020 undoubtedly is, there's a piece that simply doesn't belong, and Louis Vuitton is no exception to the rule. We suggest burning all those hallucinogenic batik models that look like Milka commercials. And those models with ruffles? Those are a whole different chapter. Nobody wants to see these "ruffled aprons" from Baroque times on men!
It will leave you neither inspired nor offended. First of all, at the beginning I wasn't even able to tell that this was a luxury Louis Vuitton collection, and secondly, other fashion brands have taken us to Heaven and back before. Sure, this can look cool and fabulous on some men, but a high-ranking manager would look like a teenager wearing it. It's simply a collection for young seductive roosters. Although, it would look pretty hot on J. Timberlake, too.
This model won't make any guy look like a real man. It could easily be labeled as an "assexual model". I find there's nothing sexy or unique about it. Maybe it would be fitting to wear it somewhere by the fireplace in a mountain hut. But you know what? It would probably look pretty odd even there.
Some may consider this model quite boring, but I think it bears a trademark of the elegance that I love about guys. I really like this color, because every other person wears black, but this light brown, or camel if you will, is simply chic and will never go out of style. And most importantly, you can wear it for pretty much any occasion.
If you're a Matrix fan and your secret idol is Keanu Reeves, then you could turn into his double in this coat. It feels like a badly executed return to the past to me, even though it's typical - everything is coming back now, and therefore it has to be cool, I guess. But definitely not for everyone. As for me, I don't care about it one bit.
