The Fall Winter 2018 collection of Marc Jacobs fashion house surprised by its unique style. But don´t expect any street style, but striking elegance reminiscent of the eighties. The main element of the fashion show were hats, ruched details and broad shoulders. Some fashion pieces were so exaggerated that probably not every woman will appreciate them.
The FW 2018 collection used several colour combinations at the same time. The bolder, lush colours included red, blue, yellow, and of course the colour of the year, which adorns most of the fashion pieces from the collection. At first glance your attention will be caught by the fashionable oversize jackets, which are truly huge, dominated by large, broad shoulders. They appeared on the catwalk in combination with great scarves, adding even more to their volume.
In addition to broad shoulders the hallmark of that time were narrow waists, loose trousers, ruched detail at the neck and, of course, luxurious hats. And that is exactly what the Marc Jacobs fashion house used in its collection, not wishing to modernise the fashion style in any way, but just to let it stand out. Wide shoulders in the collection accentuate slender waist, a notably feminine attribute of every woman. This beautiful feature is emphasized by luxurious leather or cloth loosely-fitting, belted trousers.
Great, heavily-ruched, colourful fabrics luxuriously decorated the necklines or formed a striking element of the outfits. In combination with the oversize jackets the overall effect was that of one big decorated cake. The opposite then were luxurious elegant clothes, to which the ruched detailing lent the right dose of flair.
The FW 18/19 Marc Jacobs collection is soooo sad...! For a long time now have I not seen a fashion show where except one canary-yellow pair of belted trousers I liked absolutely nothing. I still don´t understand why some designers keep coming back to 1980's fashion. I thought that all designers have already learned a lesson from the past and will not repeat the same "mistakes" again and again.
Who in God´s name would like to walk around the streets with such vast shoulders?! I definitely would not and I would feel sorry for any lady who would have that on! And even if someone did, where would you sit down to have a cup of coffee? Perhaps in café Slavia on Wednesday at eight in the morning, when you would have the empty hall to yourself (you and possibly one waiter would fill up the place quite nicely…).
Simply put: Marc, take all of this somewhere else...
