Every woman who knows the iconic luxury shoes by Manolo Blahnik, or at least heard of them, will imagine fine satin high heels with a beautiful sparkly rectangular clasp. Yes, precisely those worn by actress Sarah Jessica Parker playing the role of Carrie in Sex and the City. But the new collection, inspired by lively Africa, is completely different. It contains much more.

Boots with cowhide pattern for CZK 40,000? Thank you, no!
Manolo Blahnik presented a new shoe collection, which a little different at first sight. A zebra or a cow patern is no exception. What does it mean? The whole collection is inspired by Africa and its deep-rooted traditions of many tribes and cultures which are thousands of years old.
But I see it quite differently. I remember various similar collections, where the same animal patterns were also used. It was roughly about fifteen years ago and from what I remember it did not stay around for very long. Therefore at first glance, Blahnik´s work seems to me “old” already.
For example those cowhide boots for 37,290 crowns. Are you sure you want to spend almost forty thousand crowns for shoes, which are fit perhaps only for behind the counter of a fairground shooting range? I certainly am not! The only thing which I would pardon are those black ultra strappy heels for 26,290 crowns. But even so, they are a bit jejune, a bit boring really... I love Manolo, but this African madness is hard to be enthusiastic about.
