The SS Season 2018 brought collaboration of French designer Roland Mouret and American luxury brand NewbarK, founded in 2009 by the sister duo Maryam and Marjan Malakpour. NewbarK makes its top-quality handbags and shoes by hand, directly in Los Angeles, California. Their models are noted for comfort and elegance with a tendency to minimalism. And these attributes of comfort in combination with femininity became the alpha and omega of the unique collection.
The design duo has created three types of footwear for you. You can choose from minimalist sandals or the more striking moccasins. The black and white strappy ROMA III SANDALS evoke Californian comfort and relaxation. The sleek black sandals ROSA will become your perfect companion for daily walks, but also evening events. Both pieces may be yours for approximately CZK 10,500.
The third type are luxurious moccasins MELANIE in dark blue tone, decorated by a motive of roses. For those you will have to reach a bit deeper into your pocket; they cost around CZK 15,000.
The luxury brand of Roland Mouret, in order to celebrate this exciting cooperation, has prepared three pairs of shoes, signed by the designer himself. Those who complete the online form on the company website may will a pair; bringing home a piece signed by the designer himself; which is certainly a dream of every shoe aficionado.
"We are now approaching the tenth anniversary and there is nothing more exciting than to cooperate with Roland and to share our vision with all the incredible women who appreciate and love the two brands.” Maryam and Marjan Malakpour
It seems that the designers couldn´t wish for a better present for the imminent around anniversary of their brand!
The sister duo of Maryam and Marjan Malakpour created a collection of shoes which at first glance very practical and wearable for an undemanding working week. I personally am not a great fan of women´s moccasins. Perhaps it is because it is a piece slightly more appropriate for more mature women. Or it may be because I once had a pair myself.
Do you know the Gucci slip-on moccasins and similar models by other major brands? Well, in about 2009 I had a pair too (yes, as far back as that...hahaha!!!) and - well - I was strolling along Národní Avenue in Prague and I fell *** over heels - literally so! More conservative readers will forgive my description. And since then I hate moccasins as such. Yes, and also back then at our school many well-off mothers wore driving moccasins with the rubber heel, which after a while doesn´t wear so well. For me just another reason for rejection.
But now back to the collection. The only shoes that caught my attention are the ROSA sandals. Me, as an ultra tall woman, can combine something like that with perhaps even long dresses, I mean floor-length ones with which others wear high heels. And who is comfortably at an advantage on those huge cobble stones now?
