This luxurious pair of shoes with its fuchsia pom poms was created at the Blahnik workshop in Milan, where it was decorated with more than a hundred Preciosa crystals. This is the only specimen and its price was quoted at almost CZK 135,000.
The revealing of a luxurious pair of shoes took place in the Preciosa flagship store at Rytířská Street in Prague on the 27th June at 4:00 p.m. The Shoe for Prague, as it is called, will be exhibited here until the 12th November in an appropriately distinguished location: beneath Maria Theresa’s famous crystal chandelier.
The event was launched by Carla Firmer, Manolo Blahnik’s global communications director, who stated: “This cooperation has a special meaning for Manolo Blahnik because of his Czech roots. We are always looking for an opportunity to engage and inspire, and today in Prague we have succeeded in both."
The arrival of the beautiful model Tereza Maxová was accompanied by an impressive ballet performance with music from the most popular opera by Bedřich Smetana, The Bartered Bride. This is Manolo Blahnik’s most favourite opera from this Czech musical genius.
The Shoe for Prague, according to Tereza Maxová, celebrates the Czech heritage and tradition that is shared by Manolo Blahnik, whose father was from Bohemia, the model herself and the Preciosa Company.
The Shoe for Prague with Czech crystals was created on the occasion of the exhibition held in Kampa Museum entitled “Manolo Blahnik - The Art of Shoes”, which runs between the 11th August and the 12th November. You may look forward to a cross-section of his life’s work. The Kampa Museum also features a location that is closely connected with his father who worked nearby as a pharmacist.
The Shoe for Prague, an exhibition that is being held in Kampa Museum and Manolo Blahnik’s Czech origin, however, is not all that connects this famous shoe designer with the Czech Republic. Manolo Blahnik will also create a limited edition of twenty pairs of Czech-inspired Hangisi pumps with their legendary clip. These luxurious shoes will be adorned with Czech bobbin lace and Preciosa crystals. They will be sold and created made-to-measure for every woman.
