Composer, pianist and music teacher Vadim Petrov died at the age of 88. He has long suffered health problems. The musician was admitted to the hospital on Sunday evening, and, according to his son Vadim Petrov, he fell asleep on monday and didn't wake up in the morning. The world of music now mourns the loss of a phenomenal musician, who composed 1,400 works from symphonies to music for the children's television programme Večerníček, including the Fairty-tales at Krkonoše Mountains. His family as well as a number of celebrities came to say their last goodbyes to him today.
Last year, the music from the airty-tales at Krkonoše Mountains accompanied the lighting of the Christmas tree on the Old Town Square, during which many spectators shed tears. Petrov, still full of life, attended the event. The same melody accompanied him on his "next" journey...

Next to the Fairty-tales at Krkonoše Mountains, the tones from the Fairy Tales about Krteček, Vodník Česílko or the stories of Spejbl and Hurvínek are also notorious. Two years ago, the musician received the Medal of Honor of the 1st degree for his achievements in the field of education and culture.
Wreath from a top model
All his life, Vadim Petrov was surrounded by beautiful women. The most beautiful of them all is his granddaughter Linda Vojtová, who made a career abroad as a model. She has beein living in New York for a long time already, but she often flies to the Czech Republic to visit her family. The model loved her grandfather above all, and when they appeared together in public, she never failed to show her love and respect for the man.
"My family is everything to me and my grandfather is a wonderful person,"
she had always praised him. The musician was extremely proud of her; once he even confessed that when she was little, she was a little rogue who kept stealing candy from his secret hiding places. The only thing regarding his granddaughter he was sorry about was that she'd stopped playing the piano. The two of them were regularly in contact, at least via Skype.

Unfortunately, the model couldn't make it from New York. Apart from the fact that traveling is now a worldwide problem due to the coronavirus pandemic, Linda is probably expecting a child. She had a wreath sent for her grandfather to the Strašnice crematorium, which she had signed not only with her own name, but also on behalf of his unborn grandchild.
His former daughter-in-law also showed up
Due to the restrictions, only 30 people could officially attend the funeral, which is why the family set up a place of reverence outside, where people could reminiscence and sign the book of condolences. In addition to his immediate family, celebrities such as Dana Morávková and her husband Petr Malásek, who had been Vadim Petrov's student, the violinist Jaroslav Svěcený, Petra Černocká as well as the first wife of the musician's son Vadim Petrov Jr. Zlata Adamovská, accompanied by her current husband, actor Petr Štěpánek, all came to say good bye to Petrov. They both remembered the maestro with love. Adamovská even revealed that she had long called him "Dad".

He had a rich and meritable life
The son of Russian emigrants from the Repnin-Rěpninský family also composed music for the films Causa Králík (The Rabbit Case), Řetěz (The Chain) or Hodiny klavíru (Piano Lessons). He graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts and composed a wide range of works, including the operas Jak zkrotit saň (How to Tame a Dragon) and Namlouvání a ženění (Courtship and Marriage). He is also the author of stage music for the Greek dramas Antihoba and Eurydice, as well as for Dostoevsky's Idiot, Pushkin's Eugene Onegin or Shakespeare's Richard III.
Since his studies, he has collaborated with ensembles of folk art. In 1958 he founded the People's Conservatory, today's Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory, but after 1968 he had to resign as its director. Due to that, he began to work as a professor at the Jan Deyl Conservatory for the Blind in 1970. He was able to return in 1976, working at the Prague Conservatory. And he was allowed to start working for film and television again.
Petrov's pupils included composer and pianist Petr Malásek, singer Dagmar Pecková and singer Anna K.
