My UV Patch

The UV Patch Senzor monitors the state of your skin in real time when you are out in the sun. Is it a luxury, a true helper, or only a needless thing and a mere marketing trick designed to make customers buy more La Roche-Posay products?

At first sight, this revolutionary product may seem as a luxurious and precious helper that, as the company itself says, fights skin cancer and prevents sun burns. It does recommend the company’s products, but, on the other hand, it forces nothing on you. The bandage does, however, involve a certain aesthetic burden that not everyone will bear.

How the plaster works?

The ultra-light flexible heart-shaped bandage that you must stick on your skin is comprised of squares of white and shades of blue. It contains photo-sensitive dyes that change colour when exposed to UV rays. The special MY UV PATCH application includes a camera that can scan the shades and evaluate values of AVA and AVB exposure. The user gets feedback with the current status and a recommendation as to which product to buy and how to use it.

The bandage is revolutionary in being able to detect your skin-tone, which is taken into account in calculating the results and in making the recommendations.

Health at the price of aesthetics

Unfortunately, the thing with the would-be luxury plaster is that if you want to use it, it will inevitably be visible. The company recommends the back of your hand as the ideal spot for it and the time for which you should wear it is 3 to 5 days.

Let us be frank: walking around with a heart-shaped blue-and-white sticker on your hand for 5 days on your dream vacation is nothing luxurious. But it is the first product of its kind and it is possible that soon enough it will come in a more bearable form.

Luxury competition

According to Strategy Analytics, the first quarter of 2017 was dominated by the American Apple with its two smartphones, the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. Next in line, i.e. the third in the rankings of the best-selling mobile devices, is the Oppo R9s. A surprising moment? Yes, Oppo even beat luxury models from companies such as Samsung, Huawei and LG.

A focus on luxury photographs

The showiest thing about this telephone is without a doubt its16-megapixel camera with a wide-angle lens and a 16-megapixel front-facing camera for taking so-called high-res selfies. Among other things, the main camera offers an f/1.7 lens, which already promises decent results even in worse light. The telephone has a 5.5 inch Full HD display. Inside the phone, you will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset with 4 GB RAM. Storage space is also pleasing with a capacity of 64 GB which can be extended using a memory card. The Oppo R9s takes its power from a battery with a capacity of 3010 mAh and thanks to VOOC technology, the phone can be charged at lightning speed. This phone is sold in China for just slightly more than EUR 370, i.e. just under CZK 10,000.

All around the world with OPPO

Oppo is a subsidiary of BBK Electronics, a leading Chinese group which also owns the Vivo and OnePlus smartphone brands.

Oppo was established in 2004. At first however, it specialised in production of MP3 and Blu-ray players. In 2011, the company started to make inroads into the smartphone sector and gradually grew past the boundaries of its domestic market in China.

Have you already had the opportunity of trying out this device by Oppo?
