Historical drama Milada is coming to cinemas
Milada Horáková was a Czech politician and victim of judicial murder during the communist political trials in the 1950s. She was convicted for construed conspiracy and high treason. Cinemas will now be showing a film about her life. We believe it will be a luxurious experience.
Milada Horáková was the only woman executed in these trials. Due to her obstinacy during her trial, she became a symbol of resistance against the totalitarianism of the ruling Communist party.
She was executed on 27 June 1950. She was forty-eight years old.
Starring role
It is no surprise that this story has drawn the attention of film-makers, who decided to make a movie about Milada Horáková. The film is directed by David Mrnka and the main role is played by the luxurious Ayelet Zurer, an Israeli actress who is not well known in the Czech Republic.
An interesting fact is that the main role of Milada is not played by a Czech actress, although it is a Czech character. But Mrnka probably had different ideas…

In addition to the aforementioned Zurer, the film also features other luxurious actors and actresses such as Taťjána Medvecká, Vica Kerekes, Hana Vagnerová, Alena Mihulová, Aňa Geislerová, Vladimír Javorský, Tomáš Měcháček and other famous faces from the Czech film industry.
The story of Milada Horáková takes place in 1937 – 1950 and maps the most difficult period in the life of a heavily tried woman in Czech history. The central themes of the film are freedom, the fight for democracy, truth, love, hope, power and sacrifice. The aim of the film is to approximate the personality of Milada Horáková, her life and fate to the widest possible public in the Czech Republic and abroad.
Highlights
An interesting fact about this movie is that it was filmed in English and subsequently dubbed into Czech. This is becoming rather normal.
