SS 2018 is a luxurious demonstration of perfection! The starting point for the collection was the demonstration of everything Roland Mouret helped create over the past 20 years. The master of drapery and structures decided to freshen up his signature and open up new doors: instead of focusing on a distorted idea of perfection, the luxurious collection focuses on individualism and inner beauty.
The goal of Roland Mouret was to design pieces which will emphasize not only outside beauty but also inner beauty. He highlighted the ability of art to withstand trends. In fact, he believes that while trends come and go, the individual strength of a woman stays. That is why he created models which will help women express who they really are.
In his luxurious collection, Roland Mouret utilizes prominent materials with flowery patterns and 3D effects as well as simple and monochromatic elegance. The collection is dominated by luxurious skirts and dresses in midi and maxi lengths; these often feature decent and yet sensual cut-outs or low-hanging shoulders. The collection also has a few pants and corset tops.
Ensuring a perfect look for the models was the job of Val Garland and Sam McKnight. Key elements were purity and personality. The make-up artist Val Garland used nude shades in her make-up with the use of a palette of brown eye shadows, nude lip effects and powder eyelashes. Hair stylist Sam McKnight then used his own brand’s products for the hair styles of the models, creating airy glossy cuts and contrasting ponytails.
The luxurious fashion show of Roland Mouret at the London fashion week was seen, among others, by Olga Kurylenko and Daisy Lowe, whose beauty helped light up the venue – the luxurious National Theatre in London.
Roland Mouret’s collection has a strong breath of spring in it and was like a breath of fresh air for me. When looking at the light skirts and pants with blue flowery patterns and various ornaments, the thing I’d love to do the most would be to pack up my bags and go on vacation somewhere warm!
There’s a kind of hippie-like freedom mixed with conservative elegance here, and that’s what I like. For instance, consider the model with the deep red corset and the long skirt all the way to the ankles: first of all, the corset has an excellent décolletage, and second, in such a long skirt you’re free to eat as much as you want and nobody would notice. Great choice!
Basically the only part that I didn’t like was those small skulls or whatever those were – the things that were part of the necklace. Maybe good for a witch’s coven, but not a good choice for coffee on a sunny garden in the city!
