The first digital art centre in Paris presents the works of Gustav Klimt
The Atelier de Lumières has prepared a magnificent exhibition devoted to the giant of the Viennese art scene – Gustav Klimt - for art enthusiasts. This year it will be a hundred years since the death of this artist and also the death of his friend, the admirable and formerly condemned painter Egon Schiele.
The audio-visual exhibition will transport you into another world
The Atelier de Lumières is located between the Bastille and Nation. This former foundry, which now encloses an amazing space, has become a centre for celebrating the creative genius of Gustav Klimt. The unique interactive concept of this exhibition creates a unique experience. 140 video-projectors and a spatial sound system have been installed in this astounding industrial interior. A total area of 3,300 m2 is covered in works of art from floor to ceiling, on walls that are up to 10 metres tall.
You will be surrounded by Gustav Klimt’s best-known works and you will feel like Alice in Wonderland as you walk through rooms where deluxe art will hypnotise you from all sides with music playing in the background.
This exhibition will also present works by Schiele and Hundertwasser
Gustav Klimt was the leader of a new style, or movement if you wish, at the beginning of the new century, which was called the Vienna Secession and wished to separate from academic art. Klimt is credited with the origin of a style that we now call modern art.
Works by other Viennese masters influenced by Klimt will also be presented at this deluxe exhibition, such as the aforementioned Egon Schiele or artist and architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who left his indelible mark in Vienna (and other places) with his unique architectural works – beautiful colourful houses lacking any rules or order at all.
