The deluxe FENDI brand has undergone an enormous transformation in its newest AW 2018 collection. The traditionally established Haute Couture style is combined with the newest innovations, which gave rise to captivating but slightly bolder models, than we are used to from FENDI. A step forward? Certainly.
The innovative AW 2018 style combines orphic cubism, an art style the goal of which is to use different methods to give impressions or feelings identical to another type of art and neoclassic rigorousness. The deluxe models in fresh colours presented at the beginning of the show, which became a pleasant diversification, were soon replaced by a flood of apricot, lavender and beige tones, together with black. Bold patterns were replaced with pure design with modern surrealistic lines.
The deluxe collection works with a wide range of materials, including organza, chiffon, lace, tulle, sequins and artificial fur and leather treated using the “haute fourrure” technique. The most extravagant items were the models made from transparent fabrics with metallic reflections, which were very revealing. And the appearance of the models also became a similarly bold act.
FENDI is typical for the precise and sometimes extravagant look of its models. This pleasantly distinguishes it from all those who try to make their models into invisible clothes hangers. This time the brand sent models with upswept and smoothed buns and boldly lined eyes onto the runway. It wasn’t as wild as the blue hair that was part of the deluxe SS 2018 show, but it is certainly worth mentioning.
We don’t know what led Maria Gruzia Chiuri to create this unique collection, but one thing is certain, it was a great success!
At first glance this was one of the most interesting shows of the entire Fashion Week in Paris, and offered something between fantasy and tasteful practicality.
I must say that the spotted blouses and furs are not my thing, on the contrary to the perfect single-coloured items. For instance that shorter black fox fur with the puffy transparent skirt complemented by shiny leggings: the perfect outfit for an evening out on the town. And what is more, the leggings make it slightly informal and relaxed, so you could easily wear it for dancing in a club somewhere. I wouldn’t be afraid of drinking more cocktails than usual because the leggings would mean you wouldn’t have to keep an eye on your lap when sitting down....
The absolute best part of the show was definitely the pearly dress in the light pink shade. Again we can see a sort of tight-fitting jumpsuit with leggings under the skirt. And a dress made rom a light spider’s web, improved by hand sewn round ornaments made from stones, over it. Dressed, undressed......radiant as a falling star!
