More than one star wore a luxury gown from the Poner workshop at the opening ceremony of the KVIFF. Apart from Nikol Švantnerová and Kateřina Klausová, this was the brand of choice also for actress Alena Mihulová. And although the designer was one and the same, three very different gowns appeared on the red carpet.
Alena Mihulová looked absolutely stunning in the Poner gown. The snowy dress featuring a train perfectly underscored the actress’s silhouette and the romantic red flowers and accessories in the same colour ensured a perfect match with the red carpet.
Nikol Švantnerová and Kateřina Klausová seemed to have chosen their outfits together. In fact, that might really be the case. The models both opted for silver accessories and delicate tones. While Nikol kept to silver in her choice of gown as well, Kateřina wore a nude dress with striking applique on the neckline.
Andrea Bartošková wore a rainbow gown from the Colors 18 limited collection by designer Liběna Rochová and opted for extravagance, which we are not used to from Jiří Bartoška’s wife. Although we welcome this step towards openness, the outfit tended to supress her feminine curves, which is a pity. The charming Jiří Bartoška made an excellent choice of outfit.
Jana Plodková came to Karlovy Vary in a luxurious robe by Italian brand Elisabetta Franchi. The dusty rose combined with striking lace and sequin appliques really shone on the red carpet. The cherry on top was the black belt, which corresponded perfectly with the actress’s boyfriend’s outfit. This is what we call matching!
The duo composed of Daniela Peštová and Palo Habera was equally harmonious. The luxury snow white lace dress was in stark contrast to the red on which the beautiful model strode down the red carpet alongside her husband. When looking at this beautiful pair in black and white, we can only think of one thing: Are they planning to renew their vows?
Aňa Geislerová wore a gown by Ivana Mentlová for the opening ceremony. The luxurious dress made her look like an antique goddess – ethereal, summer and elegant all at once. Ideal for the film festival. Her perfect look was underscored by Cartier jewels.
Model and Miss Czech Republic 2007 2007 Kateřina Sokolová chose a dark blue gown from the Slovak Alizé Fashion House boutique for the luxury event. The modest tailoring was highlighted by sexy sheer details and Kateřina was undeniable one of the best-dressed stars of the festival.
While Andrea Bartošková opted for extravagance, Jitka Schneiderová did the exact opposite this time, and wore immortal and classic black. The simple Tom Ford dress was paired with luxurious jewellery and matching sandals. We have only one objection – next time, leave the overlarge clutch at home.
While the Czech actress’s boyfriend showed up in a traditional tuxedo, Tereza opted for a highly atypical variant. The nude dress by ODIVI made of sheer material was unconvincing, and we would expect something more elegant for an event this prestigious. The overall effect couldn’t be saved even by the gorgeous strappy heels.
The 53rd KVIIF has started and now it’s time to assess the red carpet full of stars! If you think everybody turned out looking great, you’re wrong. The question is, how many of the few failures will finally let somebody advise them in their choice of outfit next time …
Jiří has always been every inch the elegant gentleman. Upon thorough inspection, there is really nothing to reproach. His charisma and perfectly tailored suit underscore his position of president of the film festival.

Jiří Bartoška’s wife (since 1976) wore a very extravagant gown to the opening ceremony, as always. This time, it is a design by Liběna Rochová from the Colours 2018 collection. The gown is a mix of French linen yarn and artificial fibre made in Switzerland. The overall shine is provided by sequin stripes, which obviously looked good in the sun. I give the outfit a high score for the considerable dose of originality! And also because I think the dress must be pretty scratchy… that makes Mrs Andrea even braver!

One of the most famous Czech actresses come to Karlovy Vary once again as the queen of the red carpet! Even though she wore a gown of the dullest colour ever. But the cut is fundamental, and designer Ivana Mentlová did a perfect job! I like the accentuation around the breasts. The dress is perfectly matched with Cartier jewels. All I want to know is where Aňa found the elixir of youth, because such naturally looking fresh skin can’t be found even on Simona Krainová after a fresh dose of Botox!

For me the most legendary nurse on the silver screen, Alena Mihulová, arrived at the gala evening in a decent white dress by Poner embellished with only a few red flowers. I love the red glasses and clutch, which match perfectly and both stand in perfectly for jewellery, which isn’t even needed. And the tailoring of the dress!!! This lady is 53 years old and she aced the snug gown!

Tereza Voříšková was one of the few young actresses to appear on the red carpet. She wore a half sheer nude dress from the Odivi salon, which she paired with a black jacket from the second-hand store. Although the jacket was not a particularly luxurious item, it livened up the absolutely sub-average dress, which isn’t particularly suitable for an event like the KVIFF.

Jitka faded in among the hostesses practically at first glance (only the jewels made her stand out). Her black gown may have been by Tom Ford, but even a good brand can’t always save the overall impression. The pleating did nothing at all for Jitka’s figure. For the next event, I would definitely opt for a more comfortable A-cut or something in the style of a maxi dress, like the one worn by Andrea Bartošková.

The former Czechoslovak top model showed up at the opening ceremony alongside her husband Palo Habera in a dress of unknown origin. Daniela’s hair, makeup and jewellery are nice, but in my opinion this type of dress (which looks like a curtain with pompon stripes) is suitable at best for an afternoon lunch on the beach or by the hotel pool somewhere in Mallorca. A major fail!

In recent years, Jana has become a fixture on the red carpet of the KVIFF. And she obviously knows how to work with this fact. She wore a gown by Elisabetta Franchi, which could not be overlooked with its salmon-coloured sequins. Jana shone like a star in all directions. It’s no surprise that she wore no jewellery. The tailoring of the dress fit her perfectly! The only thing I didn’t particularly like was the hair. I clean the house with an ordinary ponytail like that… this is, after all, the “red carpet”!

The model, who is fairly successful abroad, appeared on the red carpet alongside Marek Eben. Not least because she associated the 53rd year of the KVIFF with the AutTalk foundation in support of people with autism, of which she is a co-founder. Maybe this is why she hit the red carpet dressed like a nun from watery realms. The dress was chosen by stylist Filip Vaněk from Alizé Fashion House. I found it rather disappointing, because I would like to see more on a woman this beautiful: more curves, flair and at least a touch of sex appeal!!! Yes, I know, clothing makes the man, but this look won’t make Kateřina into a saint overnight…

Kateřina Klausová is known primarily from musicals, and attended the opening ceremony in a pink dress with ostrich feathers from the Poner designer duo. The dress is essentially minimalist and doesn’t stand out in any way, which is why I would definitely pair it with simple strappy heels of an inconspicuous colour. Unfortunately, Kateřina ruined the overall impression with cheap looking sparkly shoes and a clutch of the same style. A pity to ruin such a nice dress …
