The immense beauty of Lake Como, Italy
Lake Como is located in North Italy in the Lombardy Region. Its shores are frequently bordered by steep mountain slopes boasting abundant Mediterranean vegetation. It is 146 km long and 50 km wide. It lies at 198 metres above sea level. The depth at its deepest point is 425 metres, and, as you correctly surmise, the bottom lies below sea level. Its shoreline is approximately 160 km long. The main feeder of this lake is the Adda River, which also exits the lake. The water in Lake Como comes from the glaciers, but you don’t have to worry, in the summer months the water is pleasantly warm and provides some welcome refreshment. Viewing the tops of the mountains shrouded in snow from the beach is an unreal and magical experience, especially when you know you are surrounded by yucca plants, palms and other sub-tropical vegetation.
Monte Legnone the tallest mountain entices visitors to investigate it
The tallest mountain in the region is Monte Legnone, which rises above the town of Colico and is a respectable 2,609 metres tall. You will have a deluxe view when you climb the peak, a view of the lake from above. And there is no doubt that it will suddenly seem a little small.
