An optimistic collection, full of sexy bikinis, sunglasses, stylish hats and surfing and skating boards casually carried under the arm, supplemented by trendy knitted fabrics. Such a view of what is to be worn in spring and summer 2019 has been offered at the Milan Fashion Week by the Italian fashion house of Etro. Since the last season of bohemian maxi and mini dresses and elegant suits it has adopted a less formal path, showing a more playful drive.
One would find it difficult to imagine the Etro brand without the traditional paisley pattern which most frequently has the form of small floral motifs. Perhaps this is why the creative director of woman´s collections, Veronica Etro, regularly applies this motif to almost any item of the wardrobe. It also newly appears on headscarves. This piece lends the luxury collection sensuous Indian look, aspiring to become the trend of the next season!
In Milan, the designer also presented a luxurious tapestry, which appeared on the catwalk draped over bohemian maxi and mini dresses or suits. Here also applies the less formal, more playful motto. That´s because by its design the suits evoke luxurious pyjamas, rather than elegant pieces suitable for example for a business meeting.
The beachwear, abundantly represented in the SS19 collection, induces a pleasant feeling that the summer is not over yet. It puts a smile on your face, making you reconsider, whether just now it would be the right time to go somewhere for a bit of heat. It was the sunny, surfing California, Pacific and Hawaii which inspired Veronica Etro.
And if you´ve had enough sun, you can sober up from the holiday euphoria for a change thanks to chic knitted berets, which resemble the style of elegant French ladies, or warm sweaters decorated by Japanese calligraphy - yes, faraway Japan became another source of ideas for Veronica Etro. We enjoy our travels with Etro very much!
It also applies in the case of the SS19 collection and no loyal supporter of this brand will be disappointed, even though it´s sometimes a pretty wild stuff!
Sometimes when I tell people that I have a bit of a wild Indian in me, they don´t believe me. How can conservatism mix with a bit of wilderness? But I say; why not. One is simply original and the more aspects to it, the more interesting. And what is what the choice offered by the latest Etro collection managed to encapsulate. There are thin shoulder strap maxi dresses with a V-shaped neckline of A-line cut. This is supplemented by a long coat, which a one could compare to a quilted patchwork blanket. From my point of view this is a perfectly balanced model that would accessorise by a couple of feathers in the hair and I would like a goddess!
But then came the moment of a slight disappointment in the form of a salmon suit made of linen. Not only is it uninspiring but also so box-like, that it cannot possibly flatter anyone.
The greatest HIT and the greatest FLOP of this collection according to Ornella is to be seen at the beginning of the photo gallery below the article.
