The luxurious brand Etro was founded in 1968 by Gerolamo “Gimmo”, who loved India. The key element of the brand for the first ten years was the paisley pattern and its variations. Now, on its 50th anniversary, the creative director of the women’s collection Veronica Etro decided to return to this pattern!
The SS 2018 collection celebrated Indian design and features the traditional paisley pattern. Luxurious models were introduced at the fashion week in Milano during a grandiose show called The Tree of Life. The show took place in ultra-bright premises and began with the models showing airy snow-white outfits. As the show progressed, more and more models with rich colors and bright textures appeared. Multiculturalism, openness, variety – the show had it all. And it was something to behold!
Etro SS 2018 creates mostly mini and maxi dresses in the Boho-chic style, elegant pantsuits, coats and suit jackets, or embroidered bodices and tops from Jacquard fabrics. Used materials include airy chiffon, shiny Jacquard, luxurious velvet as well as more traditional silk and cotton. Many models are decorated by a fine lace.
The accessories are also created with the precision and style typical for this brand. Accessories were chosen in the color and style to perfectly match and complement the model. These included large earrings, necklaces, belts, metallic sandals and luxurious shiny brooches.
If a collection can be considered a prototype of purely feminine fashion, then it’s Etro. It introduces and brings out feminine beauty that we definitely want to wear!
First of all, I must admit that I’m not really familiar with the Etro brand. However, I was impressed by this collection at first sight and found it about million times more fascinating than for example the Channel S/S 2018 collection.
I absolutely loved the variations of white. Oh, and the fine laces. They are pure and beautiful and every woman must look innocent and untouched in such a dress. These models are ideal for romantic dinners in two while watching the sunset, for example in the center of Prague.
At the same time I appreciate the gradual change during the show. How fragility changes to rich colors, colorful patterns, velvet and silk. For example, the mini green dress with richly decorated velvet jacket is definitely a good choice for a date, as well as an adventurous trip; all in all, I like the endless options offered by this collection. The only minus are the trousers with baggy thighs, those are not flattering for anyone, not even the models on the catwalk – not to mention normal, everyday people!
