Camilo and Tomatito

Michel Camilo and Tomatito have already been performed together for 20 years

Spanish flamenco prince Tomatito and Dominican Republic born Michel Camilo represent a masterly example of what creative marriage of two luxury harmonious instruments should look like. What sparked off their musical friendship? They met in the 1980s at a festival. Then a few years passed before they jointly appeared on stage and there a new story started to unfold.

The entire Rudolfinum was enthralled!

Their way of interpretation of jazz, Latin American as well as flamenco classic tunes is so outstanding, pleasing through its purity, endless virtuosity and temperament, that is will totally captivate you. And that is what we have experienced first-hand, too. They hypnotised the audience from the first tones, so that we completely lost ourselves in the experience”!

Their extravagance, feel for rhythm, sensual beauty of flamenco and charisma exuded from each composition. I have to say that the piano skills of Camilo are just incredible. It was difficult to follow the torrent of tones and heavy harmonics accords. His hands work at lightning speed. It is obvious that they are a perfect duo with great future together!

They reaped incredible applause and standing ovation, where the entire Rudolfinum enthusiastically cried "Bravo". Yes, such was this unique, luxurious experience, that we were reluctant to part with these artists. The artists were very touched by their reception here. I think that they will remember Prague for a long time and we them also!

Luxurious repertoire and tunes which you cannot get out of your mind

From the latest album of Camilo-Tomatito duo, Spain Forever, we heard compositions such as Nuages (from Django Reinhardt) or Armando's Rhumba, Spain (both from Chick Corey), as well as Latin American treasures - Aqua E Vinho (by Egbert Gismonti), Carnival (by Luiz Bonfá), Oblivión (by Astor Piazzola), Our Spanish Love Song (Charlie Haden).

The Album deservedly won the Latin Grammy for best instrumental album and confirms that this duo matures like wine!
