Emilia-Romagna: Grace and Uniqueness of this North-east Corner of Italy
Emilia Romagna, two in one
This luxurious jewel can be found in the north-east of Italy. The coast in the east is washed by the Adriatic Sea, the west of the region is graced by the Apennines. The capital city is Bologna. Emilia-Romagna are actually two interconnected regions of northern Italy. They consist of nine provinces: Bologna, Ferrara, Forli-Cesena, Modena, Parma, Piacenza, Ravenna, Reggio Emilia, Rimini. The name of Emilia refers to Via Emilia, a trunk road linking Rome and the northern provinces.

Local fruit and grape wine is of top quality, serving as basis for the wine production. Emilia-Romagna is a renowned wine producing area. The most popular brands of wine include Lambrusco, Sangiovese, Pignoletto and Albana.

Bologna with its oldest university in Europe
Bologna is world-famous thanks to its luxurious oldest university in Europe, its past students including such prominent names as Dante Alighieri, Francesco Petrarca or Erasmus of Rotterdam. It boasts a town hall Palazzo Comunale, or Basilica di San Petronio from the 14th century, which is interesting by being 200 metres long. We must not forget the famous Neptune´s fountain by Flemish sculptor, Jean de Boulogne.
Rimini with its stellar past
The beauty of Rimini will be revealed to you every step of your journey. The most beautiful places in Rimini are Piazza Tre Martiri, which encloses Corso Augusto and street of IV. Novembre. Furthermore, there is Arco d'Augusto, a luxury white marble arch, which is considered to be the oldest antique arch of central Italy and even nowadays it is one of the most important monuments. This was a place visited by film stars such as Sofia Loren or Brigitte Bardot, who spent here many a season in the past. You are sure also to notice the legendary, luxuriously romantic Grand Hotel.
San Martino - the 3rd smallest state
And finally, San Martino. It is essentially a "mini-state". Immediately after Vatican and Monaco it occupies the third place according to area. The highest peak is Monte Titano (755 meters). Also noteworthy are the defence towers high on the rocks, but also the picturesque streets and corners of this miniature state.
