President Donald Trump stated that he would be talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, who is seeking to end the war in Ukraine. The American leader revealed plans for the conversation to reporters during a flight from Florida to Washington aboard Air Force One on Sunday evening.
Any such conversation could be a turning point in the conflict and an opportunity for Trump to continue reorienting American foreign policy. European allies are wary of Trump's affinity for Putin and his tough stance towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who faced sharp criticism during a visit to the Oval Office just over two weeks ago, AP agency noted.
The police arrested 15 people after a nightclub fire in North Macedonia killed at least 59 people. The fire broke out on Sunday around 02:30 local time at the Pulse club in Kocani, where about 500 people gathered for a concert of DNK, a popular hip-hop duo in the country.
Only one member of the group survived and was treated in hospital, a prosecution spokesman told the BBC. A total of 155 people were injured at the concert. Interior Minister Pance Toskovski said that those arrested will be interrogated, adding that there was "reasonable suspicion that the fire is related to corruption and bribery". The club didn't have an official license, and the fire was likely due to the use of entertainment pyrotechnics.
