The second most prestigious film awards in the world know their winners for the past year. The awardees include actors Sacha Baron Cohen and Rosamund Pike, as well as the series The Queen's Gambit and The Crown. On the contrary, Czech Republic has sorely lacked effective measures in recent weeks. But that should change from today. And did you know which giant American company doesn't have unions yet?
Israel accuses Iran of attacking its ship

Today, Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accused Iran of causing an explosion aboard an Israeli ship in the Persian Gulf. However, he avoided answering questions about a possible counterattack by Israel.
"This was indeed an operation by Iran. That is clear,"
the prime minister said on radio Kan. The Israeli ship exploded off the coast of Oman on Friday. However, it didn't end in a shipwreck and the cargo ship was able to reach the port of Dubai. For Iran, the Jewish state is an age-old enemy, and its ruling party refuses to recognize its legitimacy. Already last year, the world was shocked by a hacker attack on Iran, which allegedly aimed to poison Israel's drinking water. The stance of the government of the ten times more populous Iran suggests that the Israelis cannot expect things to calm down in the years to come.
Coronavirus has been in the Czech Republic for exactly one year

On Sunday, March 1, 2020, tests in the Czech Republic confirmed the first three cases of the new coronavirus infection. Since then, almost a million and a quarter of Czechs have become infected and more than 20,000 people have died from complications associated with COVID-19. The anniversary coincided with the day when stricter measures are being introduced in our country, aiming to slow down the spread of the disease, which has gained momentum again in recent weeks. New, more contagious coronavirus mutations are behind the failure of existing measures and the ever-filling hospital facilities across the country. From today, restrictions on the free movement of persons have been tightened, schools and kindergartens closed, and previously open shops, as well as service establishments, shut down for three weeks. In the territory of municipalities, residents have to wear at least surgical masks even outdoors. In public transport, shops and at work, the FFP2 respirator is required. Mandatory quarantine for people with a positive coronavirus test is extended from 10 to 14 days. People over the age of 70 can start registering for vaccination via the Ministry of Health website.

Biden called on workers in Alabama to form unions

Joe Biden posted a video on Twitter a few hours ago, defending the right of workers to form unions. The comments made by the president happen at a time when workers at an Amazon warehouse in Alabama are voting on whether or not to unionize. The 78-year-old president did not directly name the aforementioned company, but since he specifically referenced “workers in Alabama” in the video, it is more than obvious that his words referred to this vote.
"It’s your right...So make your voice heard. Unions lift up workers, both union and non-union. There should be no intimidation, no coercion, no threats, no anti-union propaganda. No supervisor should confront employees about their union preferences,"
said the Pennsylvania native. Amazon, America’s second-biggest private employer, has no unionized labour in the United States. In addition, there is evidence that superiors used various intimidation tactics on the employees during the voting period.

The 48-year-old native of London Sacha Baron Cohen has had a very successful night. At this year's Golden Globes, he triumphed in the Best Comedy Actor category. What's more, his new movie Borat Subsequent Moviefilm even became the best comedy/music film of the year. Cohen has already won the same award for the first Borat movie from 2006. For the first time in history, the awarding of the Golden Globes took place on both coasts of the United States. The evening was hosted by comedians Tina Fey (from New York) and Amy Poehler (from Beverly Hills). They contacted the actors and actresses long-distance due to the current pandemic situation. The road movie Nomadland reaped great success, winning both the Best Drama and Best Director award. The award for best drama actress went to Andra Day for her role in the film the United States vs. Billie Holiday. Chadwick Boseman won a Golden Globe best dramatic actor posthumously, for his performance in Ma Rainey - The Mother of the Blues. Among women in comedy movies, Rosamund Pike shone the brightest and won an award for her role in Care a Lot. The Queen's Gambit and The Crown collected awards in the categories of series.

This car has only 6,000 kilometres under its belt and can be bought by anyone who has 435,600 US dollars (approximately 9.44 million Czech crowns) to waste. In 2016, the price requested for this golden car exceeded 21 million crowns.
