The mass coronavirus vaccination at Dodgers Stadium in Los Angeles was temporarily put on hold yesterday after protesters had gathered near the entrance. According to the Los Angeles Times, the crowd of protesters was composed of people from far-right anti-virus groups. Around 40 of them gathered in front of the gate, no cases of violence were reported.

The fire brigade had to close the gate as a precaution, but it was reopened an hour later. Photos and videos shared on Twitter show the protesters carrying signs such as "COVID = SCAM", "I only like muzzles in the bedroom," or "Tell Bill Gates to get vaccinated", Bill Gates responded humorously, informing that he was already vaccinated.

Influencers will be promoting the government campaign on TikTok for free

On Thursday, the government office announced that they were setting up a profile on the social network TikTok. They cast influencers Anna Šulcová and Jakub Gulab in their campaign and set aside half a million crowns for them to cover paid advertising. However, both the influencers and the whole campaign received a huge wave of criticism for this sum of money. Because of that, Šulcová and Gulab decided to promote the videos for free.

"Kuba and I have done all the work on the campaign against disinformation about the Covid-19 vaccination without compensation. I'm very sorry for the attitude people have shown, and so, after all the negative feedback, we will now refuse and the money for purchasing of advertising space won't be used,"

Šulcová told her followers on Instagram, adding that the government office wanted to spread the videos to the widest possible audience with the help of paid advertising.

Part of the California highway collapsed into the Pacific Ocean

California Highway 1 was closed after a winter storm caused a large section of the road to collapse into the Pacific Ocean below. Local crews discovered damage about 20 miles south of Big Sur after heavy torrential rains. Fortunately, no one was driving on the collapsed section of the road when the disaster happened.

Photos of the highway that have been published on social networks show that a large part is missing and that the road is disconnected.

“It's where we lose a part of the highway and now we're facing a project to clean and repair that stretch. This is the only location we're aware of where this happened in the storm. Our maintenance team is patrolling the highway now to look for other damage,”

said Jim Shivers, a spokesman for the California Department of Transportation.

The new Bond movie will have to reshoot some scenes

After the premiere of the new Bond movie has been delayed due to coronavirus, the film will be postponed again. Some scenes will have to be retaken. The world's media reporting on it have informed that the promotional items included in the movie have aged in over a year.

The 25th installment of the saga, in which the Agent 007 is portrayed by Daniel Craig, was to have its premiere in April last year. However, the Universal Studios have postponed its release several times, most recently for this autumn. The authors will thus have to retake the scenes in which Bond promotes the latest products of sponsors and products by means of subliminar advertising (product placement).

The companies didn't want outdated gadgets such as a mobile phone that has aged in the meantime to appear on the screen. One of their arguments was that the Agent OO7 always uses the latest technology. The film's partners include mobile phone manufacturer Nokia, Omega watches, Bollinger champagne and Adidas sneakers.

"By the time the movie comes out now it will look like Daniel Craig and all of the other cast members are carrying something that has been out for ages. That isn’t really the point of these deals. The big tech firms want the stars to have all the new up-and-coming products to help promote them and sell them to fans,"

Further protests in Russia

Supporters of imprisoned Kremlin critic Alexei Navalnyj are preparing to hold new protests across Russia for the second weekend in a row, despite extensive crackdown on his allies and an almost certain confrontation with the police. The rallies are part of a campaign to release Vladimir Putin's opponent, who was arrested on January 17 after returning from Germany. The 44-year-old opposition politician accuses Putin of ordering his assassination, which the Kremlin denies.

Navalnyj is accused of violating parole, which he claims to be a mere presumption. The court is due to meet next week to consider sentencing him to up to three and a half years of prison.

Police have warned that Sunday's protests haven't been approved and will be considered illegal, same as last weekend. They also said that the demonstrators could spread COVID-19. Due to the protest plans, the capital will close seven metro stations and restrict pedestrian movement in the protest area.
