Elon Musk came with shocking news: he had offered Tesla for sale three years ago. Once grown up, the most profitable YouTuber of the past year, a 9-year-old boy, will be able to buy whatever he wants. And did you know what the most common New Year's resolution is?
Incumbent US President Donald Trump urges the US Congress to amend the bill on relief during the coronavirus pandemic. According to the 74-year-old New York native, the package is severely lacking. Trump would like to increase the amount of 900 billion dollars (19.5 trillion Czech crowns) more than threefold. In a video message on Twitter, he said that the relief package was a real disgrace, full of uneconomical things. Every American should receive $ 600 (about CZK 13,000). The incumbent president would like to see the relief raised up to $ 2,000 (roughly CZK 43,000). The Republican president will hand over his office to Joe Biden on January 20.
The year 2020 was very specific, as the coronavirus pandemic prevented many people from achieving their professional and personal goals. More than 40% of the respondents had made a resolution for the past year. The traditional desire to lose weight and eat healthily prevailed. Surprisingly, a large number of respondents had wished not make any more resolutions.
8 out of 10 respondents made at least one New Year's resolution during their lifetime. However, many of them run up against a brick wall and failed to fulfill their wishes. What does Olga Medlíková, a lecturer and author of e-books, advise?
"Most New Year's resolutions are too optimistic. If you do make a resolution, make sure it is concrete and realistic. Ideally, plan it out step by step, break it down into individual goals that can be achieved gradually."
While a large number of countries are closing their borders in fear of the new coronavirus mutation that is spreading from the British Isles and is up to 70 percent more contagious than the original strain, France decided to open its borders today. There have been many people stranded in the UK in recent days, thousands of them in trucks and other transport vehicles. Great pressure for the lifting of the blockade by France came mainly from the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson. Many Europeans were facing the probability that they won't manage to return to their families by Christmas Day. Late last night, the two sides agreed on the terms. Nevertheless, most drivers will most likely not be able to return in time. Only those with a negative COVID test will be allowed to cross the border. Moreover, the test cannot be older than 72 hours.
Neither PewDiePie nor David Dobrik. For the third time in a row, Ryan Kaji was the highest paid YouTuber of the year. The young creator increased his income by $ 3 million year-on-year, a total of almost $ 30 million (approximately CZK 650 million) this year. Despite the fact that he collected over 12 billion views on YouTube last year, he derives most of his income from Ryan's World goods - decorative items, figurines, masks or radios are sold on Amazon or Walmart under his brand.
The youngest member of the TOP 10 is only six-year-old Nastya, who also happens to be the only woman among the ten best-earning YouTubers of 2020. She earned $ 18.5 million (approximately 400 million Czech crowns). More than the much more famous David Dobrik or Jeffree Star, who close the top ten.
Forty-nine-year-old billionaire Elon Musk revealed that in 2017 he had been considering selling Tesla. But the boss of Apple Tim Cook declined to meet with him. Since then, Tesla's value has more than doubled. Three years ago, the carmaker was experiencing problems before the release of the Model 3 and wasn't producing electric cars in larger volumes yet. Musk tried to get rid of the company and sell it to Apple. However, Tim Cook wouldn't meet with him, and a few years later Tesla became the most valuable carmaker on the planet.
Musk wrote his tweet in response to the reports saying that Apple wanted to start producing their own electric cars with special charging technology by 2025. Reportedly, the progress in the production of lithium-iron-phosphate batteries is the reason why the technology giant wants to create an electric autonomous car for ordinary consumers, thus becoming Tesla's direct competitor. In recent years, it seemed that Apple would focus solely on developing software and other technologies to sell to other companies.
And that's all we've got for you today. We hope that you'll enjoy your Wednesday in peace and get everything ready for tomorrow's Christmas Eve. Remember the wise words of the American writer Roy L. Smith:
