Although the intensity of earthquakes on Santorini has been decreasing in recent days, nothing indicates the impending end of the natural disaster. The Czech state paid over 20 billion crowns for housing benefits. Mexico is suing Google for improperly renaming the Gulf of Mexico, which does not comply with the decree of US President Donald Trump. European leaders met to address the security crisis caused by the US effort to negotiate with the Kremlin about the end of Russian aggression in Ukraine without the presence of representatives of Ukraine and Europe.

Earthquakes in Santorini will continue

The main seismologist of the Greek government stated that the frequency of earthquakes in Santorini and surrounding islands has decreased in recent days, but the outlook for continuing tremors in the coming weeks remains uncertain. "Unfortunately, we have to wait for now. These seismic sequences will not end quickly. They follow their own schedule," the seismologist Costas Papazachos told the state radio on Monday according to AP.

An emergency was declared on Santorini and the nearby islands of Ios, Amorgos and Anafi after a swarm of underwater earthquakes this month, sometimes felt every few minutes, forced thousands of residents and workers to move to the Greek mainland.

Czech Republic paid over 20 billion for housing support

The amount contributed by the state for housing benefits for applicants of this social benefit has been rapidly increasing recently. The primary cause is a rapid rise in housing prices, which the rise in wages in recent years has been unable to match, thus increasing people's eligibility for benefits. The basic condition is that housing costs be higher than 30% of monthly income. The sum given to applicants for this benefit has doubled in the last two years, as reported by ČTK.

Google will face Mexican lawsuit over renaming of the Gulf of Mexico

Mexico will sue Google if the maps displayed to users in the USA continue to label the Gulf of Mexico as the American Gulf across the entire water area, announced President Claudia Sheinbaum on Monday, stating that the decree of US President Donald Trump regarding the renaming applies only to part of the continental shelf under US control.

Last week, Google renamed the Gulf of Mexico to the American Gulf for Google Maps users based in the USA, citing "a long-standing practice of applying name changes when updated in official government sources". People in Mexico continue to see the water area referred to as the Gulf of Mexico. All other countries see both names, CNN wrote about the controversy on their website.

Europe is dealing with serious cracks in the transatlantic alliance

European leaders in Paris on Monday tried to form a unified front at extraordinary meetings convened after the US diplomatic pressure on Ukraine, which once plunged a solid alliance into chaos and made Europeans doubt the reliability of their key transatlantic partner. Shortly before the talks, French President Emmanuel Macron spoke with US President Donald Trump, but Macron's office did not want to disclose details of the twenty-minute discussion.

Leaders of Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Poland, Spain, Netherlands, Denmark and the European Union met at the Elysee Palace to discuss Europe's security issues. NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte was also present. Since last week, top representatives of Trump's administration have left the impression on their first visit to Europe that Washington is ready to embrace with Kremlin, while they are coldly standing to many of their longstanding European allies, AP agency reported.
